1. Copy the binary of OOo330m11 to /Applications (confirm with Admin PW, as
standard user do not have write access here), for me it was the german version
2. Start the application (you get asked if you want to start as it was
downloaded from Internet - continue here - astonishing is for me that you don't
get asked the following times starting OOo)
3. Click any App (tested only Writer and Calc)
4. Quit OOo (you won't get asked if you want to save untitled as it was not
changed)
5. Start OOo
Result: Document recovery appears (for Unbenannt 1).

This can be repeated every time. Close any open document, choose "File/New/(Any
type)" from the menu, quit and restart OOo. Always document recovery appears.

Am not sure which module this really is, so I chose Installation.

When opening a file from recent history or using double click/open with OOo all
external hard disc connected via firewire wake from sleep mode.

1. Double click on some file like doc, xls, odt that gets opened by OOo. AFTER
(!) the file is opened, all drives awake from sleep.

2. (not second step, but second method to reproduce) Start OOo. On the start
screen everything is fine. Choose some file from the recent history. The file
opens, every drive awakes from sleep.

It is known that the Apple file selector does similar things. This is a problem
of Apple's OS X and NOT meant in this issue.

Easier tests: Open any graphics in Preview, Select all, Copy. Try to paste in
OOo. Or do Command-Control-Shift-4 to do a screenshot to clipboard (select
rectangle or press space to select window). Then try to paste in OOo (doesn't
work) versus TextEdit (there it works in Formatted Text format only of course).

Confirm on Apple OS X 10.6.1: Some existing PPT created by MS Office won't open
in Dev300_m60, give Beachball of Death after status bar "importing" has
finished.

Creating a new (empty) PPT from OOo and open it works fine, so it seems not all
presentations are concerned.

The VLC plugin crash was fixed in 1.0.0RC2 according to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/117640/comments/12. VLC after 0.9.9a
isn't supporting 10.4 Tiger anymore, 0.8.6i which is the newest compiled VLC
plugin suitable for Tiger. Think it is not necessary to test it as now we know
if there's this crash appearing where it comes from (don't need the plugin
myself). Just to keep in mind: People running Tiger wanting the VLC plugin can't
use the fixed version.

The cws that causes the bug is vcl100, tnx cloph for the builds to isolate it!

I don't see any preferences regarding the improvement program. Where do I find
it? Anyway, I think I always answered "No" if I got asked if I wish to
participate (dunno if that happened on this computer).

Writing aids seem not to be the problem. Will do a check of improvement program
in the evening.

hdu, I recommend coordination with cloph before further analyzing (if you didn't
already do so) e. g. in the chat. We are in the process of further isolating,
finding the exact cws containing the problem (doing builds containing only some
cws between m45 and m46), this shall optimize the time for finally finding the
cause of the bug.

The last crash on m45 was the problem that some external dependency required
10.5 Leopard, but I'm using 10.4 Tiger. Buildbot was fixed to give 10.4
compatible output.

The crash doesn't occur on a newly built m45 or previous, but since m46. Changed
version of this issue to DEV300m46. (omitting details about which previous and
successing versions were tested to find this out)

Very strange. m45 starts fine. Clicking on calc: Immediately crash.

Opening writer, typing one (!) letter: works fine. Typing a second letter: Boom!

Opening writer, simultaneously hacking on many keys: All chars appear fine. Wait
a few seconds, type any key: crash.

Crash on pure letters/numbers mostly, not on Shortcuts like Command-V,
Shift-Cursor-left or similar. Never at the first letter, mostly the second,
sometimes later.

Crash is different: The tests before had some seconds "beachball", then crash
while some thread remains, OOo has to be closed by kill. In m45 the first typed
char needs two seconds. But the char which produces the crash does that
immediately, and the OOo process doesn't stay. On a different computer (which
probably isn't affected by this bug anyway) using 10.5 no crash occurs with m45.

Don't assume the calc crash is related to the phenomenon of this task, suggest
to ignore it. But the crash in writer probably is the same. Next test will be
done with m43 (tested m41 which I still had somewhere, this works fine).

Can't test the DEV300_m47 - it crashes on start because of unresolved symbol:

Link (dyld) error:
Symbol not found: _NSDefaultRunLoopMode
Referenced from:
/Users/Shared/m47/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/MacOS/../basis-link/program/libvclmxi.dylib
Expected in:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/Versions/A/CoreFoundation

Assuming this can only be tested on Leopard 10.5 - unresolved symbols often are
result of Tiger incompatibility. Can someone with 10.5 please test the m47 if it
runs fine?

Additional information: DEV300_m52 also crashes like m48-m51 on key press.

That way this bug can't be reproduced. Starting OOo from the terminal as you
recommended no key presses appear in the OOo window. Whatever had the focus
before clicking into OOo window gets the key events. There is no menu, so the
submenu crash also can't be generated. Opening documents, selecting and pasting
clipboard works fine. Have to end the program after closing the window using
Ctrl-C. But no crash as I can't type ...

Thought about writing some AppleScript that sends key presses, but am not sure
if that would help reproducing the crash. Do you have a better idea?

Problem with crashreporter is that it crashes if you type. Probably this
prevented previous reports from being sent. Using Textedit and pasting text with
the mouse is possible. Reports ryrr4kc and rpvr4kc are two of my crashes.

Used sun build for testing (seldom used account, settings unchanged). Some more
results I had before this try to send report:

- Pasting Clipboard using only the mouse works fine
- Opening some menu entries (like Edit/Object, the last one - but there are
more) also crashes, not only typing
- Typing in preferences crashes too

No idea how to get the report ID. On next start of OOo Document recovery ->
next, there appears something that a crash report was sent -> next should be
some crash reporter tool according to the dialog text before next, but all that
appears is an empty writer document (obviously the recovered one).

I sent 3 reports, but at the first two I canceled document recovery. In the
comment there is always the text
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=102735 (the URL of this bug)
contained. Does this help?

One more thing to mention: After the crash there is some thread of OOo still
running. I have to use "Sofort beenden" from the context menu of the dock.

Seems strange to me that this bug isn't reported by now. It is simple:

Open Calc or writer
Type a letter
-> crash

This bug exists since DEV300m48 and is still in DEV300m50

As it seems noone reported it by now it may depend on the used OS or some other
detail of my computer. I'm using OS X 10.4.11 Tiger on a iMac 20" 2.16 GHz.
Maybe it has something to do with my two monitors.

This error is not occurring in the 3.1 line of snapshots (OOO310mXX)

Seems to be fixed in 3.1.0 RC2 - maybe should have waited some hours before
reporting this issue ;-). But didn't find a similar bug when searching cycle
windows.

It exists a standard shortcut for Cycle windows on the platform Macintosh that
is supported by nearly all Applications. Command-< resp Command-> (which is
Shift-Command-<). By default this doesn't work, at least not in OOo310m9. The
windows blinks somehow, but there is nothing cycled. Seems this was implemented
but not working.

I recognized this problem which seems to exist since the very first Aqua OOo
because of this thread in the german forum:

http://www.macuser.de/forum/f19/open-office-ooo-375631/

Steps to reproduce:

Start OOo

Open New text document
Press Command-N (which opens another text document)
Press Command-<
Type something to make sure the same doument stays on top
Press Command-<
Press Command->

Now that you ask for network printer, I remember it to be known that the Windows
XP driver for the network printer I'm using creates invalid temp directory names
which cause Microsoft Office to crash under special conditions. This crash does
a blue screen exactly like the one that appears on start of Open Office. I
assume that some similar effect is the cause for this.

As this is an error in the printer driver and not in OpenOffice I set the
resolution to wontfix although it is a pity that such an error may make
OpenOffice unusable for some people. I'm using another flavour of Windows now
where the error doesn't appear (no, OpenOffice is not the cause for that
change).

It seems any internet connection OOo is trying to open on my system is causing
the problem. Clicking on Preferences/Online Update also results in a Blue Screen
using Dev300m39. Using the proxy never was a problem for any application, OOo is
the first one where I see such problems. Sounds also logical to me that the
registration dialog tries to access the internet despite setting "don't
register, manual search for update" (although I think it isn't supposed to do
this!).

Seems it was random that the installation worked fine for one time instead of
causing a blue screen.

Now installed OOOdev35. It took very long after pressing "Finish" and had also
strange behaviour then (mouse jumping), but it didn't end in a blue screen and
runs fine now. As not many people seem to be concerned by whatever-it-was I
suggest to close this task (will be fixed automatically by later release).

No, there is nothing named OOo or OpenOffice in Application Data or its
subdirectories. Or anything that starts with the letter O directly in that
directory.

Just to make sure it is clear that I was thorough: Before I searched for files
of course I uninstalled OOo the "standard way" using add or remove programs.
Also I searched the registry for suspicious entries.

OOo 2.x (iirc 2.4.0) was installed on the system before 3.0 existed. I'm not
sure if I was asked to take over User Settings when trying 3.0 the first time.
Think I uninstalled 2.x and then installed 3.x without taking over settings.
Never installed an older version of OOo since my first test of 3.0.

Anyway, this should make no difference as I removed every trace of any version
of OpenOffice on my system before the last test thoroughly. There exists no
directory C:\user (yes I show hidden files in Windows Explorer), that's why I
wrote about %CSIDL_APPDATA%, but I searched all local drives for files or
folders containing "ooo" or "OpenOffice" in the name and deleted them (except
installation archives of course).

Removed every OOo installation before (was only the recent one left as I did
that before). Updated graphics driver of NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS to be sure this
is not the cause. Searched registry for OpenOffice and OOo and removed
suspicious entries. Searched C:\Program files and E:\Program files for ooo-dev
and Openoffice, removed (also only one left as I did this before). Tried
installing on C: of the en-US release version of OOo 3.0, but custom install
where only change is not searching for update. Result: After "I don't want to
register" and "Finish" same as usual. Some seconds busybee, then blue screen and
instant reboot. Starting OOo not possible every time this register assistant
appears, which always leads to blue screen and reboot. Of course I never got
asked if I want to take settings from OOo 2.x. Searched my app data dir for
roaming (nothing found). Please note that the settings I enter (user name,
initials) never get saved as if I start it again the corresponding fields are
empty.

Removed everything in %CSIDL_APPDATA% that sounded like OOdev or OpenOffice.
Started OOo. Register wizard answered as usual (dont check for updates, no
registration). Blue Screen.

This happens also using OOo 3.0 RC3. Still can't use OOo. I would assume that
the problem is the custom path for installation. Don't want to test it currently
because on C: is not much space left - this is the main reason why I use another
path for installation.

On an english Windows XP SP2 Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz with 2 GB RAM using two
monitors I installed the german RC2 of OOO 3.0 using custom installation to
change the installation path to E:\Program Files. Started OOO. Unchecked
automatically getting updates. I get asked if I want to register. Clicking "Ich
möchte mich nicht registrieren" and "Fertig" after some seconds the computer
freezes, shows a blue screen for about half a second and reboots.

1) I don't know a workaround and can't use OOO
2) A computer suddenly rebooting may do harm to data

As I currently don't have the time to test all the combinations possibly causing
this I suggest someone tests the special circumstances (en/de, custom install to
E:, two monitors) if they cause the trouble. If there is a workaround known I
suggest to publish it. I wanted to report this bug before OOO 3.0 is released
otherwise I would have waited reporting it until I have the time to test all the
circumstances. Set to Prio 3 because obviously not many people have that problem
- there probably is already someone who got german OOO 3.0 RC2 installed on
Windows.

This entry was set to P2 because I thought there is no workaround and to be
honest I don't understand the workaround. Where do I set the shortcut for
rotating the possible completion words? I mean switching to the next possible
word? And if I set it to enter, how can I accept a word completion which is what
I usually do using enter? A field to set the shortcut for "Accept with" exists
but not for "Rotate suggestion forward" and "Rotate suggestion backwards". If
there is a misunderstanding and no workaround exists I suggest to set Prio back.

Just enter some words which start with the same 3 letters one in a line for
having a history for auto complete. Then in a new line enter these 3 letters.
You get a possibility for auto complete, but you can't switch it. According to
the help it should be possible to switch forward via Ctrl-Tab and backwards via
Ctrl-Shift-Tab.

This occurs on OSX in OOO300_m3 and is likely to be caused by the special
treatment for Command-key on OSX.
