I would like to update the Finnish website to use the official headers, for
consistency with other native language websites. To do this the header texts
should be localized. It seems that such thing has already been done for German
and French pages:

http://look.openoffice.org/source/browse/look/www/overrides/templates/Locale.vm?view=markup

I will attach similar localized texts for Finnish to this issue.

Trying to open the soon to be attached file causes a crash in DEV300m19 (also in
2.4.1). The crash seems to be fully repeatable if the file is opened from
terminal with
$ /opt/openoffice.org3/program/swriter 143.doc
Opening it through File - Open is not as reliable way to cause the crash. I
have tested this only on Linux.

The file in question is a Word97/2000/XP file created with OOo itself and then
intentionally corrupted in order to test the robustness of import filters.

Due to a bug in the openssl library shipped in Debian
  http://www.debian.org/security/2008/dsa-1571
  http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-612-2
all SSH keys generated on recent Debian and Ubuntu systems are so weak that they
should be considered compromised. Since I have generated my SSH key on such
system, it should be revoked and replaced with a new one.

Fingerprint of the compromised key is
  5f:15:b3:9d:95:d7:90:24:8b:ba:ac:bf:e7:5b:b1:b2
Fingerprint of the new, valid key that I will attach to this issue is
  a3:f3:c4:27:57:e4:ec:ba:71:b1:3a:64:5d:6b:9c:9c

Since this bug has been in Debian and Ubuntu releases for slightly over a year,
it is likely that there are other similarly weak keys installed on OOo servers.
It might make sense to scan for them using some of the published tools (more
information in the security advisories linked above).

Unfortunately this cannot be fixed in the extension, because the code that
identifes word boundaries is internal to OOo. It is possible to make language
specific changes to these rules, as we did for Finnish (see issue #58513). But
I do not know what side effects would adding as a middle letter in Hebrew
have on other components (such as Hunspell Hebrew spellchecking). But if this
is fixed inside OOo and hspell supports this, it should work without any
changes to the extension.

I noticed this issue and decided to try the extension approach of hspell
integration by modifying the Finnish spellchecking extension to use hspell
instead of voikko. I managed to get a working proof-of-concept done in just a
few hours.

On Linux (at least Debian) this can be tried by installing subversion,
openoffice.org-sdk and hspell and running the following commands:

$ svn co
https://voikko.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/voikko/branches/ooovoikko/hspell
$ cd hspell
$ /usr/lib/openoffice/sdk/setsdkenv_unix
$ make oxt
$ unopkg add build/hspell.oxt

There are still many references to Voikko, and the documentation has not been
touched at all. While I do not know any Hebrew, pasting some Hebrew text from
the net to OOo seems to lead to most of words being accepted, and some that
are flagged as errors will have suggested corrections in Hebrew. So it must be
working at least somehow.

I will not work on this much more, since without knowing the language it is
obviously quite difficult. But if you find this code useful, I can clean it up
and answer any questions you might have about it. The original extension can
be built on Linux, Windows and OS X and supports building both fully

root windows closing still fails for me after trying to use the letter wizard.
So I think this should remain at P2 (or at least P3).

There is no previous autocorrect data available for Finnish, so I will attach
a new acor_fi-FI.dat to this issue. The file contains data for Abbreviations
(no subsequent capital). The other types of autocorrect data are not too
useful for Finnish so they are not included. I would like to ask this to be
integrated to the development builds for OOo version 2.4.

I think I found the problem: The code assumed that if for example
directory /opt/openoffice.org2.3/share/template/fi is present, then it
contains subdirectory wizard/letter/fi. The attached patch removes this
assumption. It will instead list the contents
of /opt/openoffice.org/share/template/fi/wizard/letter and add all
subdirectories under it to vector allPaths. This seems to fix the problem for
Finnish build. It should work for other languages too, but I have not tested
this. I am not familiar with this code so the patch may be buggy.

Note that some of the changes are just whitespace changes to make that
particular block of code more readable.

If extension license agreement contains non-ascii characters such as ä,
those are printed incorrectly when the extension is being installed with
console application unopkg.com.

The problem occurs for localised messages from unopkg.com too. For example in
Finnish yes = kyllä; when the use is asked to accept the extension
license, letter ä has been replaced with letter õ, and installation only
continues if the user types kyllõ instead of kyllä.

This happens on Finnish versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. On Linux the
console version of unopkg does not have these problems.

Window-Freeze sometimes hides the thickened border around current cell.

Steps to reproduce:
- Start Calc
- Select cell B2
- Window - Freeze
- Select cell C3
- Window - Freeze

= Thickened borders around current cell C3 disappear, only the handle at
lower right corner of the cell remains visible.

- Select cell B2
- Window - Freeze

= Phantom borders appear around C3, while B2 is the cell that is actually
active.

Similar, but not quite identical display problems have been reported in issue
#20419 (resolved WORKSFORME) and in Debian BTS at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=348921

In Finnish, HYPHEN-MINUS is a word character, and current OpenOffice.org
correctly handles it as such (see issue #58513). We have recently discussed
this at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and concluded that the behaviour should be
extended to cover NON-BREAKING HYPHEN as well.

But after experimenting with such change I discovered that non-breaking
hyphens are completely stripped from words before they are send to the
spellchecking component for processing. Steps to reproduce:

- Add [:name = NON-BREAKING HYPHEN:] to $ALetter in
i18npool/source/breakiterator/data/dict_word_fi.txt and
i18npool/source/breakiterator/data/count_word_fi.txt

- Enter Kaakkois-Suomi in Writer using HYPHEN-MINUS as the hyphen
  - spellchecker component receives word Kaakkois-Suomi; this is OK.

- Enter Kaakkois-Suomi in Writer using NON-BREAKING HYPHEN as the hyphen
  - spellchecker component receives word KaakkoisSuomi. This is wrong, I
would expect to get Kaakkois-Suomi (maybe with the non-breaking hyphen
converted to an ordinary hyphen).

It seems like the same bug is present in the hyphenator as well, although
there it is less likely to cause any real problems.

On Linux it is impossible to use unopkg if some of the user configuration
files have not been created. This is a problem, because when installing uno
extensions for all users, installation is usually done as root. And root never
runs OOo directly.

Steps to reproduce:
c2:~# rm -r .openoffice.org2
c2:~# /opt/openoffice.org2.0/program/unopkg list

ERROR: (com.sun.star.lang.WrappedTargetRuntimeException) { { { Message
= [context=\user\] caught unexpected exception!, Context =
(com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) @0 } }, TargetException = (any) {
(com.sun.star.uno.Exception) { Message = Invalid language string., Context =
(com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) @0 } } }

unopkg failed.
c2:~#

This problem can be worked around as follows:
c2:~# rm -r .openoffice.org2
c2:~# mkdir -p .openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice
c2:~# cp /tmp/Setup.xcu .openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/
c2:~# /opt/openoffice.org2.0/program/unopkg list
all deployed user packages:
none

It is sufficient for Setup.xcu to contain the followin lines:
?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
oor:component-data xmlns:oor=http://openoffice.org/2001/registry;
xmlns:xs=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema; oor:name=Setup
oor:package=org.openoffice
 node oor:name=L10N
  prop oor:name=ooLocale oor:type=xs:string
   valuexxx/value
  /prop
 /node
/oor:component-data

The xxx in within value tags is just to demonstrate that it does not matter if
the language string actually is valid, it just has to be present and not
longer than three characters.

This bug is present in version OOD680_m4 but it is not present in 2.0.3.

One important feature that is broken by this is installation of OOo extensions
through Debian package management system:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=387224
This is especially bad for Finnish users who rely on third party components to
provide spellchecking and hyphenation capabilities for OOo.

At least dict_word_fi.txt and count_word_fi.txt would be needed.
edit_word_fi.txt is a harder question. I did a test form for this (see
http://www.hunspell-fi.org/ooo/tests/breakiterator.html ) and according to
these tests MS Word, for some reason, does consider - as a word separator
when editing text, but not during spellchecking or in word count. So maybe we
want to do the same and not touch edit_word_fi.txt.

In the test form there are also some tests for words like USA:ssa (=in the
USA) that are also used in Finnish. They are broken in the similar way in
OOo, and the fix would be to add colon to MidLetter (in dict_word_fi.txt and
count_word_fi.txt). Perhaps colon should be there by default? At least in
http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr29/#Word_Boundaries Table 2 already lists
colon in MidLetter.

I have not tested these additional changes, I will write a note after I manage
to build OOo with these changes and verify that the behaviour will be the same
as in Word.

According to a lot of people, n-dash is not a proper word character in Finnish
so the default handling is fine for it. Attached second version of
dict_word_fi.txt allows HYPHEN-MINUS to exist anywhere within a Finnish word
but makes no other changes to breakiterator rules. This seems to be enough to
fix our compound word handling. I have tested this myself, and hope that it is
a safe fix to be added for 2.0.2.
Word counting is still not fixed by this though, maybe a separate issue should
be filed for that.

The actual difference between the default dict_word.txt and dict_word_fi.txt
is the following:
--- dict_word.txt 2005-11-04 17:32:41.0 +0200
+++ dict_word_fi.txt2005-12-10 15:11:39.0 +0200

The attached file is identical to the default dict_word.txt except that I have
added [:name = HYPHEN-MINUS:] to $MidLetter. As I do not completely understand
the syntax of this file, I thought that this is a safe and minimal change to
make spellchecking work. After building OOo with this file added,
Kaakkois-Suomi is no longer flagged as a spelling error, which is good. But
word count is still wrong.
It is also possible for the hyphen to be the first or the last letter of a
word, as in Kaakkois- ja Keski-Suomi. This still does not work, although I
am not sure if our spellchecker would handle this correctly anyway. I do not
know if it is correct to use n-dash in these cases; I have asked about this on
dev@fi.openoffice.org, perhaps someone from there can comment on this issue.

Compound words containing a hyphen are incorrectly considered as separate
words by OpenOffice.org (m142 built by Pavel Janík and m138 built by myself)

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open a new, empty Writer document
2) From character properties, set language to Finnish
3) Type auto (without the quotes) into the document
4) Observe that in the document properties, statistics show Number of Words:
1
5) Replace auto with kuorma-auto in the document
6) Now statistics show Number of Words: 2. This is incorrect, because (at
least) in Finnish kuorma-auto is a single word.

This bug also breaks spellchecking with our (partially closed-source)
spellchecker, because typing a word like Kaakkois-Suomi results in
Kaakkois being marked as a spelling error (it would be an error if it was
written without -Suomi) but the compound word is in fact correct.

In OpenOffice.org 1.9 writing word mf0use in Writer causes mf to be
underlined as a spelling error. This happens regadless of the setting Tools -
Options - Language Settings - Writing Aids - Check words with numbers.

Expected behaviour (seen in OpenOffice.org 1.1.4):
When Check words with numbers is selected, whole mf0use should be marked
as a spelling error. When Check words with numbers is not selected, nothing
in mf0use should be marked as a spelling error.

Language chosen in character style was English (UK) and spellchecking works
correctly for ordinary English words.

Auto-filling growth series (using Edit-Fill-Series) with increment less than
1 but greater than 0 only works if start value is set to a greater value
than end value. It does not work if end value is smaller than start value as
it now is because the series is decreasing.

To reproduce:
- Select an empty spreadsheet column
- Select Edit-Fill-Series
- Choose growth as series type, 64 as start value, 2 as end value and 0.5 as
increment. Click OK.

Result: only first value (64) is filled to the first cell of the column.
Expected result: Series 64,32,16,8,4,2 would be filled.

If I do the above but set 100 as end value, an endless decreasing series
64,32,16,... is filled.
