I keep running into it. Today I almost submitted a paper with a misformatted headline because the formatting got lost on saving and I didn't re-open the file to check if everything still looked like it did when I saved. Under certain circumstances, text formatting is lost in Writer when saving the document. To reproduce, do the following: - Start Writer - Type W, RETURN, W. You will have two text lines, each containing the character W. - Mark the first character and click bold. The first W will now be bold. - Place the cursor at the end of the document. - Hit BACKSPACE once to delete the second W. - Hit BACKSPACE once more to delete the newline and jump into the first text line. - Note that the text line will still be bold. - Save the document, close Writer. - Open the document again. - THE BOLD FORMATTING IS LOST! This is obviously a *very* serious bug. Losing formatting (as has happened to me in my thesis) is not fun. I narrowed the bug down to the simple instructions presented above.
