I have Debian testing installed without packages from any other sources on several computers, they all display this problem. By the way, I find that I cannot now load backup files either unless I change the extension from .bak. How can I go about diagnosing this further? [sw-issues] [Issue 104706] Will not open a file that does not have an extension
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=104706 --- Additional comments from j...@openoffice.org Sun Sep 6 08:17:15 + 2009 --- This first came to my attention because I use OpenOffice examine and compare .config files. I would use the OpenOffice open dialogue, navigate to /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.30, type in the File name: .config (because hidden files are not shown in the dialogue) and it would open (with the usual dialogue about ASCII Filter Options). Now this does not work unless I make a copy of the file and rename it with a .txt extension. To reproduce: Paste some text into a new page using Gedit and save it as a plain text file called Open bug test. In OpenOffice, navigate to the file using the Fileopen dialogue, click on the file name, click on open and all that happens is that the dialogue disappears. Or, find the file using Nautilus, right click on the file name, left click on Open with OpenOffice.org Writer and all that happens is that the open dialogue disappears. Save a copy of the file as Open bug test.txt, either of the above actions opens the file with a difference that opening the file from Nautilus brings up the ASCII Filter Options dialogue, which does not happen using the OpenOffice Fileopen dialogue. Having now opened the file in OpenOffice.org writer, save it in ODF format as Open bug test2.odt. It can be opened normally using either method. Using Natilus, save a copy of this file and rename it Open bug test2. OpenOffice will not now open it, in exactly the same way as with Open bug test. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I had two .odt files which I saved as .rtf. I could open one of the .rtf files successfully with OOo, the other would be blank so I did some investigating of how they were different. Issue 26539 was reported as affecting version 1.1 but I am still experiencing it in version 2.0.3. The syptom is that /home/john/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu keeps increasing in size by adding entries for recent documents until it gets to a certain point when it is deleted and a default version is substituting, thereby losing all the settings held in that file. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I restored my most recently backed up copy of /home/john/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu which restored my settings. It had 1915 lines in it. Since the list in this file seems to grow without limit. [sw-issues] [Issue 46446] Paste Special default setting
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46446 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri May 20 03:53:02 -0700 2005 --- Applies to 680_m100 I would like something similar, essentially the settings become persistant and default to the last values used. This is rather the opposite of issue 28895 in that the settings should persist even when OpenOffice is shut down, however a default button might cover issue 28895. This also relates to issue 9052. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. After printing to my Epson Stylus printer the Test 1 document displays correctly, but reverts to scrunched after prinitn to my Samsung laser printer. After printing the letter to my Epson Stylus printer the Courier text can be accessed, although the cursor is one character out, but the text is displayed distorted. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
