To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=51654 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Mar 6 00:35:06 -0800 2006 --- I think OpenOffice.org Media Player *should* support at least most popular open media formats, like OGG/Vorbis, FLAC (look at www.vorbis.com ) or OGG/Theora (look at www.theora.org ) as default or at least show helpfull suggestions (in Help or in warning dialog, when user tries to open not supported files) how to get OpenOffice.org working with these audio/video file formats. OGG support is still broken on OpenOffice.org (tested with 2.0.2RC4 for Linux): 1. Now there are no .ogg extension in OpenOffice.org Media Player's Open dialog :(, so OGG/Vorbis audio or OGG/Theora video files user doesn't see as default :( 2. Windows Media Player supports not so many formats as default, but this is solving by installing Directshow Filters for needed media formats. Open Source (BSD licence) Directshow Filters for Ogg Vorbis, Speex, Theora and FLAC Audio/Video formats are available at http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ Why don't include these filters in default openoffice package for windows ? 3. If on linux (and others) the Java Media Framework is used that supports by itself a variety of formats and can be extended by plugins to support even more formats, then why don't include support for OGG/Vorbis, FLAC or Theora multimedia formats as default in default openoffice package for Linux? 4. User should get info (URL) where to get OGG/Vorbis, FLAC or Theora support if they tries to open multimedia files, encoded in these formats, but now I get only dumb message The format of selected files is not supported :( I don't know if I should report 4 separate bugreports, or some of these 4 issues belongs to this bugreport ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Did you forgot, that OpenOffice.org runs not only on Windows ? Why OpenOffice.org doesn't support Ogg Vorbis or Theora formats on Linux or Solaris? 3. Now there are no .ogg extension in OpenOffice.org Media Player's Open dialog :( So, we need or split this bugreport in 3 or reopen this bugreport and close only when these 3 issues will be solved. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [installation-issues] [Issue 55273] kde office submenu does n ot contain openoffice.org-2.0 items on Debian sarge
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55273 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Oct 1 04:16:08 -0700 2005 --- I can confirm this bug. This problem exists not only with KDE, but also with GNOME and other freedesktop.org compliant menu systems, which use launchers (.desktop files) from /usr/share/applications/ Problem is in changed folder name, where openoffice.org2 is installed. In OOo2.0rc1 this folder is named /opt/openoffice.org2.0, but in desktop-integration/openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.0.0-1_all.deb incorrect symlink /etc/openoffice.org-2.0 exists, which points to nonexisting folder /opt/openoffice.org2.0.0 So, there are very quick solution for this - simply change the symlink /etc/openoffice.org-2.0 (which is in desktop-integration/openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.0.0-1_all.deb) to point to correct current install folder - /opt/openoffice.org2.0 I think priority of this bug should be increased to P2, as Functional area gets lost or Basic functionality is not working correctly - this bug is a regression and simple user simply can't start OpenOffice.org in Debian GNU/Linux based OS, because he simply can't find how to launch it - nor freedesktop.org menu launchers ( .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/), nor debian menu launchers (file /usr/lib/menu/openoffice.org-debian-menus is also incorrect - it contains entries like command=%unixfilename -writer instead of command=/usr/bin/openoffice.org-2.0 -writer) work. AFAIK target should be set to 2.0.0, because it is very simple to fix - by simply changing the symlink (see above). Please fix this bug in OOo 2.0RC2. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [l10n-issues] [Issue 41301] New menu entries are incompatible with previous versions of OOo
translation in Lithuanian language is Byla). So, why all translators use natural, clear and intuitive word Aplankas for Folder translation, but now some translators don't want to use analogical word Byla for File translation ? Translation of File has to be orientated to real life- to real office in this case, then computer and free software won't be such a misterious and frightening for many people. If National Lithuanian Language Committee doesn't want to understand simple people, who are working in office, then it's not a free software problem, you can compile special branch of OpenOffice.org for National Lithuanian Language Committee, but please don't follow his opinion in free software without consultation with free software users and translators. -- Mantas Kriauinas, Developer of OpenOffice.org Lithuanian Native Language project http://lt.openoffice.org - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Edas, you are not right, Adobe Reader 7.0 can fill in forms with non ASCII characters and there is 7.0 beta version on Linux already. I've downloaded AdbeRdr70_linux_enu.0.beta1.tar.bz2 from http://ftp.yars.free.net/pub/software/unix/util/viewers/ and tested with your attached PDF forms on Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (Sarge). It seems I can write (and see) all lithuanian and russian symbols in Bug_In_PDF_Export.pdf and Bug_In_PDF_Export_With_font_sizes.pdf except ccaron and zcaron(these both have identifical size, I think differences are just in file name). When I open Runaround_for_Bug_In_PDF_Export_.pdf then I see only dots in text fields instead of characters, but when I place cursor on text boxes then all characters except ccaron and zcaron are displayed correctly. I don't know where is the bug - in OpenOffice.org or in Adobe Reader 7.0 Linux beta, could someone test these PDF files with stable version of Adobe Reader 7.0 on windows ? Next week I'll try to write zcaron and ccaron in other PDF forms, created with Scribus, maybe results will be different to PDF forms, produced with OpenOffice.org 1.9 ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=42985 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Feb 17 05:29:52 -0800 2005 --- I think PDF export should work in WYSIWYG manier - if a user chooses some e.g. Times font, then Times should be in PDF, if user chooses Helvetica - then Helvetica. If one font property - font's size is exported to the PDF file, then why another font property - family name is always changed to Helvetica ? If it's not possible to get this simple solution into 2.0, then we should use any other solution, which works with the majority of international characters, e.g. Lithuanian or Russian, not only iso8859-1. At least we can make a checkbox use system font for form fields in Export to PDF dialog window. On the other case there would be problems when pushing OpenOffice.org to public sector, e.g. there is a Project on Open Standards in Local Authorities in Lithuania and Latvia (see http://europa.eu.int/idabc/en/document/3802/469 ) and we plan to suggest to install at least one copy of OOo in every governmental and public institution in order to publish the information in open formats (e. g. PDF, because majority of users can read PDF and fill PDF forms without buying any software). Currently most documents in Lithuanian governmental institutions are published in MS Office formats partly because it is necessary to buy aditional expensive software for publishing in wide spread open format - PDF and PDF forms. OOo 2.0 could replace expensive Adobe Acrobat for generating PDF forms but only if there would be an ability to enter Lithuanian characters (iso8859-13/Windows-1257 encoding). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
