What I originally thought of, when I submitted this issue, was to replace the rather old-style outline drag'n'drop with a more modern one where the content constantly repaints itself IMHO yielding a better user experience. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. However, the user is presented a file selection dialogue. This leads me to the assumption that the English version really isn't accurate. What for would we show a file selection dialogue then, if we wouldn't want the user to select a file (what actually is OLE; embedding documents)? [sw-issues] [Issue 19503] redesign Math formulas fon ts selection dialogue
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=19503 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 7 22:49:32 + 2008 --- The current dialog is by no means intuitive nor does it make changing fonts easy. So a general overhaul would be very appreciated. It's a pain to change more than one font at a time, especially. Also, there is no kind of preview at all. It's taking a lot of time, if a selected font provides for needed special characters. Some thoughts on requirements: - Make it possible to change font for variables, functions, numbers and text separately. - Apply one style to multiple of the aforementioned categories. - Font size and font style are defined in two separate dialogs. Why not actually adapt the general font settings dialog to Math? I imagine the category list on the left and the font and font effects tab on the right. The settings made are applied to the selected elements. What do you think about that? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. What the reporter wants is done by \n. However, the way writer handles line breaks is a bit weird, as it only counts the manually inserted line breaks. Due to the fact that this behaviour is already documented in the help files, I think that no actions are required on our part. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Thus, if you invoke e.g. 'Repair' from the control panel they are re-extracted to temp (if not already there). Then repair is invoked as it is now. The downside to this is the relatively time consuming task of re-extracting from installation file. The benefit is, as already mentioned, more power to the user. Also, OO.o's setup wouldn't be that much different than others (namely running a program in the first place to unpack and actually then installing it). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is irritating, especially for novice users, as it suggest that these files be needed later on. Also, the unpacked installation files are truly temporary files as they are _only_ needed for installation. Thus, set the default path to C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Local Settings\Temp. This would help people to keep their environment clean as this directory is taken into account by the system's Disc clean-up Tool. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
