Clicking Cancel can't be a workaround, as you discard all the changes previously made on the other tabs (shadows, transparency, and so on). Using one tab after an other, and never switching back, could be a workaround... However, I can't believe this won't ever be fixed (because this is what OOo later means). [framework-issues] [Issue 4756] Expand shortcut possibiliti es (Use of Alt key is not offered)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4756 --- Additional comments from mba...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 15 13:58:30 + 2009 --- It is the status quo especially under Linux, that many of OOo's pre-defined keyboard shortcuts cannot be used, because the window manager/ desktop manager catches them: just think Ctrl+F1 ... Ctrl+F12 which switches to virtual desktop 1 ... 12, or Ctrl+Tabulator which switches to the next virtual desktop, and so on. But I think this is not a reason against, but *for* making the Alt key available for keyboard shortcuts configuration via the GUI: that way the user has more choices to *avoid* a shortcut is being catched by the desktop manager. Currently one is limited to shortcuts without the Alt key. On the other hand, since there are some pre-defined keyboard shortcuts in OOo which use the Alt key (think Ctrl+Alt+Cursor up, or the newly introduced Ctrl+Alt+N), one has to be able to define an other shortcut for these actions (e.g. in case the default is already in use for the desktop manager). Currently one cannot configure these shortcuts at all. Thus, I cannot see why OOo should preclude its users from defining/ undefining/ redefining keyboard shortcuts with the Alt key any longer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Besides everything, a statement like I set it to wontfix as this is the current opinion among those who contribute developer ressources here is unacceptable. What also is not acceptable is introducing new keyboard shortcuts with Alt (Ctrl+Alt+N for notes in OOo3) on the one hand, but keeping users from configuring that very shortcut via the UI on the other hand. If interoperability were a concern, there shouldn't be hard coded shortcuts with Alt in the first place. Note that there was or there is issue 32 (!), and issue 6342 which more or less target on the same thing like this one here. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 95978] Field Page Count Counts Au tomatically Inserted Blank Pages
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=95978 Issue #|95978 Summary|Field Page Count Counts Automatically Inserted Blank P |ages Component|Word processor Version|OOo 3.0 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|NEW Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|mbayer --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Nov 8 00:13:17 + 2008 --- How to reproduce: 1. Be sure the option Print automatically inserted blank pages in Tools - Options - OOo Writer - Print - Other is unset. 2. Open a new text document (File - New - Text Document). 3. Insert a manual page break while setting the page number to 1 (Insert - Manual Break - Page Break, Style: Default, [X] Change page number, 1). 4. Insert the field Page Count (Insert - Fields - Page Count). Expected behaviour: The field Page Count displays the actual amount of physical pages. Seen behaviour: The field Page Counts displays the amount of logical pages. Discussion: When changing the page number via a manual page break from one impair number (right page) to an other impair number (an other right page), e.g. from page #i to page #1, OOo automatically inserts the missing left page with pair number (which can be seen as a blank page in the page preview). While this is useful for those using a duplex printer, everyone else can switch this off in Tools - Options - OOo Writer - Print. In that case, OOo won't automatically insert missing left pages with pair number. Thus, when switching off the option print automatically inserted blank pages, the document created according to the step-by-step description above has actually only 2 physical pages. Yet the field page count says it has 3, as if there were a blank page inserted between the two pages with impair number. Typical use cases for this field are a thesis, where you have to hand in X pages (but the page number on the last pages says X-Y=Z, because you restart the page counter Z after Y pages of Table of Contents and so on), or anything else where you have to specify the amount of pages in the document itself (think bibliographic information, or payment based on a per-page basis or something like this). If you use for these documents a simplex printer and thus unset the option print automatically inserted blank pages, OOo will display a wrong amount of pages in the field page count. Conclusion: OOo must not count non-existent pages. Proposed solutions: a) Don't count automatically inserted blank pages when the user has switched off the option print automatically inserted blank pages. *) b) Add an offset option to the field Page count (like for Page number). *) Note there is a similar option in the PDF export dialogue. [framework-issues] [Issue 86885] Saving fails when /tmp dir is full
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=86885 User mbayer changed the following: What|Old value |New value Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Oct 22 00:55:05 + 2008 --- This problem is not related to OOo at all. OOo needs to create temporary files. By default, it uses the directory set in the $TEMP environment variable, but you can configure this also in Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Paths - Temporary Files. If neither is set, the setting defaults to /tmp. According to both, the Single UNIX Specification, Version 3 (IEEE 1003.1 and ISO/IEC 9945), and the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS), the /tmp directory has to be made available for creating temporary files. Writing to that directory can fail for several reasons (think NFS), but it is not the duty of OOo to check whether there is a device, or that it is writeable, or that there is sufficiently space on it, because OOo is not an operating system. If your root partition (or the partition containing /tmp) tends to be used at 100% (although this must not happen), make the $TEMP variable pointing to somewhere else, or configure the paths in your OOo accordingly, but please don't blame OOo for needing a place where it can save its data! In case you are only looking for a better error message, please have a look at issue 95243. Closing INVALID. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Recommending the change of the O/S is without any use to those that can not liberally choose it (just think enterprise users). Also, the use of keyboard tools, like MS' keyboard layout creator, might not be allowed anywhere. Then, there are thousands of characters available via Insert - Special Character that you can not type in with your keyboard, even if you learned how to use the compose key. Plus, the feature requested is already implemented; you can define keyboard shortcuts for special characters by editing the config file manually. Thus, all we need is an enhancement of the Tools - Customize - Keyboard GUI. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. And what makes things worse is not the fact that this issue is open for more than 3 years now, but that 3 years ago Adobe announced to “phase out” PostScript Type 1 fonts and to target only on OpenType fonts, and that hence OOo must support OpenType fonts just as it supported (and sill supports) Type 1 fonts. Thus I also feel that the target “later” does not reflect the community's wishes and prioritizing for OpenType support appropriately. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. How to reproduce: 1. Have some text and mark a portion of it. 2. Insert - Fields - Other... - Functions - Type: Hidden text - Condition: TRUE. Click Insert (and Close). 3. In Tools - Options... - OOo Writer - Formatting Aids, section Display of, check the option Fields: Hidden Text. Click OK. 4. Hidden text is now displayed (grey, if field shadings are activated), even though condition TRUE is always true (which is OK). 5. Check with File - Page preview: Hidden text is not displayed (which is OK, too). 6. Close the preview, print the document, and export it to PDF. Expected: Hidden text fields do not appear in the paper print, nor in the PDF file (= as the preview). Seen: Hidden text fields are printed and exported to PDF, even when condition is true. [sw-issues] [Issue 79950] hyperlinks in TOC don't wo rk with simple click; only CTRL-click works
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=79950 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Sep 25 14:34:47 + 2007 --- It is very strange, though, that the newly-implemented link to the extensions repository (issue 78209) in the extension manager works with a single click, not with Ctrl+click. This change leads to inconsistencies in the user interface. Replacing the link handling paradigm (i.e. click) was an error in the first place. We should return ASAP to the pre-2.3 behaviour (and maybe use Ctrl+click for SEL instead). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
