To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=69070 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Aug 30 06:46:14 -0700 2006 --- I attached two documents of the kind where I run into speed issues before. The Speed.odt is just 112k text. This saves snappily. The Speed with Graphics.odt is much shorter, and a bit smaller, but includes graphics cut and pasted from Draw. OpenOffice is slow to load and save the document with graphics. The more graphics there are, the slower. The captions make no difference, I have tried that (trying to identify the source of the problem)... The problem seems to be that graphics copied from Draw are saved as elements (lines, etc.), all inside the contents.xml. Pasting the graphics as Metafile makes the content.xml part of the document obviously much smaller; and saving a snap. Interestingly, maybe, having the same graphics all in one Draw document seems to save much more quickly. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 65341] New - Writing style sugges tions just like spelling checking
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=65341 Issue #:|65341 Summary:|Writing style suggestions just like spelling checking Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|FEATURE Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|editing Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|open_me --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat May 13 01:22:19 -0700 2006 --- I would like to suggest a new feature for OOo. I do not think any competing program has it, so this would be a feature to stand out. We have a spelling checker (red lines) for words that are plainly wrong. We might get a grammar checker (green lines) one day for some basic grammatical issues. I suggest a writing style checker (maybe blue lines?) for issues of writing style. These issues are different from spelling mistakes, as they are a matter of choice. Technically, I reckon the code for the spelling checker could be recycled to a large extent. Examples: highlight all foreign words, highlight informal language, highlight But at the beginning of a sentence (when capitalized), words often confused, ... What would be needed are additional dictionary-like lists with these words. For each word there would need to be (a) the word to highlight as a potential issue, (b) the suggested alternative, (c) a tag or classification so the user can decide whether he or she wants all the X-type of words flagged. The context menu could show the alternative and the tag in brackets: [But] - However, (good writing). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 65345] New - Find as you type in Writer
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=65345 Issue #:|65345 Summary:|Find as you type in Writer Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|editing Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|open_me --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat May 13 10:19:05 -0700 2006 --- Suggestion for a feature. (1) press a key combination (e.g. control+shift+F if this is free) (2) type the search phrase: OpenOffice jumps to the first place that matches (3) I press control + G (or something similar) to jump to the next match (control+shift+G to previous) (4) once I click into the text, I'm back at editing. This feature would thus be similar to the find-as-you-type in Mozilla, or also the functionality offered by Canon Cat... The current implementation of search differs in the following ways: (a) need to use the mouse for the search dialogue, (b) no search as you type: possibly enter much more than needed to get a match. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. What you expect is that you get two arrow heads pointing away from each other, but what you get instead is something like a bow tie. This has to do with the fact that the arrow head starts at the beginning of the line, but for very short lines, the arrow heads themselves are longer than then line. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
