[dba-issues] [Issue 63221] copy table from calc to db 2/400 db tables does not work as expected

When You enter the schema and table like SCHEMA.TABLE, OO adds the Systemname it results in the following SCHEMA.SYSTEM.TABLE which is wrong. It has to be SYSTEM.SCHEMA.TABLE. When you enter schema and table like schema.table OO generates schema.SYSTEM.table which is completely rubbish. It has to be SYSTEM.schema.table. Double-double quotes are not allowed in any way. Anyway when you're entering SYSTEM.SCHEMA.TABLE OO generates a valid Statement and copying ist working fine. At the connection setting could be an option whether OO is allowed to add '' and change the access path of a databaseobject in a sql statement. Default behaviour could be the same as it is now and the user can decide if other settings would work better for him. When you've connected to an DB2400/UDB you just address tables by schema.table. When you enter the filename like this, OO converts it to schema.database.table witch is wrong. Correctly it should be database.schema.table. When you enter the table name like this when creating it OO works fine (as long as you enter the name completely in capital letters, you remember the problem of the ''?). You just can test this beheaviour when you've got an AS/400; iSeries; i5 to test. At the moment I don't have another type of DB system available to test the behaviour. regards, Ralf - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [dba-issues] [Issue 63221] wrong quoting in db2 data bases

It is definitely a bug. Even when entering the SQL statement directly OO changes it. This feature of OO makes the database part of the suite useless. What I don't understand is, that all theses problem have been solved in the past (SO 5.2, 6). Only with the new DB module all the bugs are back again. By the way, you will see the same problem not only for DB2/400 UDB but also for Mimer and I think for most of the other databases not coming from the open source community. [sc-issues] [Issue 63478] Import of csv data to cal c

There are several programs on the market, that export data to a .xls file. Actually the data are in a form of .csv Data. When you're opening such a file using MS Excel the data are correctly read into a spreadsheet. When you are opening this file using OO the file is openend in Writer. Surely you can rename the file, but describe that to your standard user in a company, you will get the answer, OO is stupid, MS Office does it the right way. I'm not reporting a bug, but a idea to make OO more useable. regards, Ralf - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [dba-issues] [Issue 63221] New - Creating a Table by drag'n'drop from calc
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63221 Issue #:|63221 Summary:|Creating a Table by drag'n'drop from calc Component:|Database access Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Windows 2000 Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|none Assigned to:|dbaneedsconfirm Reported by:|rabund --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Mar 15 07:24:56 -0800 2006 --- I've dragged data from calc to a table in an database connected via ODBC to a DB2/400 UDB. The creation came back with an error telling me, that the HLITSTRBU would not be identical to the server. For the name of the table I've entered HLITSTRBU.OOIMP2 which is a valid combination for naming within DB2/400. I wanted to create table ooimp2 in hlitstrbu schema. You generated: CREATE TABLE HLITSTRBU.ES_BUND.IMPOO2 (DIVSA VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVSF VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DISPRC VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVRKY VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIF1 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIKEY2 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVDAT VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIF2 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVAKZ VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVSKZ VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIDTAD VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIDTUP VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIUSUP VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIIACS VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488) correctly it should be: CREATE TABLE HLITSTRBU.IMPOO2 (DIVSA VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVSF VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DISPRC VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVRKY VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIF1 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIKEY2 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVDAT VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIF2 VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVAKZ VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIVSKZ VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIDTAD VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIDTUP VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIUSUP VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488,DIIACS VARGRAPHIC(255) CCSID 13488) In addition please be aware, that quoting names means, that there must exists a perfect match between the case names are entered and the names as stored in the DB. DB2, as most other DB Servers, normaly have names unquoted and converts them to capital letters. Only when names are quoted the system does an exact match. Therefore it could cause problems to quote. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I found, that OO doublequotes automatically resulting in: SELECT * FROM HLITSTALG.HDIP0SYS WHERE divsa = '100' AND divsa = '6' Double quoting with DB2/400 results in case sensitive matching of names. Unquoted names are treated as uppercase. Therefore OO should, by no means, automatically quote names (neither column, nor table or schema names). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 15274] Improvement of CSV file import: 1.) Opening .TXT files should not bring up Writer, 2.) It should be easy to set the text delimiter to none if it is not needed, 3.) The formats set for the text file columns in the CSV import dialog should be carried over into the actual spreadsheet document (e.g. a date should stay a date and a text should stay a text)

But it was simply impossible using the open function. OO simply ignores the selected filter and opens as text in writer. csv is a data format and not a text format. To change the behaviour of OO is not an enhancement, but fixing of a major bug. By the way, I've solved my problem by describing a datasource and than copying the data into calc.
