[sw-issues] [Issue 86256] Crash: Table created with 2.3.1 can not be opened with 2.3.0

All the files you were working on will be saved. The next time OO.org is launched, your files will be recovered automatically." PS: please remove the word "unexpected" from that message. Even when I expected the error OO.org crashed! Of course one could update to a newer version of OO.org (which is not too difficult), but the document containing the table is actually a subdocument of a master document. As the master document contains many (over 200 subdocuments) that are maintained by many people, it is not so trivial to have all people use the latest greatest OO.org. Besides that a minor update 2.3.0 to 2.3.1 should not result in such a major functionality update BTW: the master document crashed too Anyway this bug is also opened to make others aware of this problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The line on the left side of the first column next to the steps 18, 19, and 20 are missing (on the bottom of the column as well). The table has been created with the OO.org table wizard, by configuring the required number of columns and rows. After that cells have been merged to obtain the desired table layout (see attached odt document). When some rows are deleted the problem disappears. When enough text is removed from the some cells, so the last rows ends on the previous page (the number of cells remains the same), the problem seems to be gone as well. It is unfortenately very hard to predict when the problem happens. Hopefully the attached document combo, reveals what's wrong. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I changed a setting via: "Styles and Formatting" (F11) -> Heading 1 (modify) The Paragraph Style: Heading 1 pops up -> in the tab "numbering" Numbering style is "blank". Change change Numbering Style to "none". This removes the number in front of the Heading 1 texts. Now to get this back one has to go to tools -> outline numbering -> numbering -> Change paragraph style from "none" to Heading 1. Hence, it would be nice to know whether the solution for this bug (or is it a feature) can be made part of a upcoming OO.org release. More people start to use ODM documents over here and they want to give the credit to the people that wrote the sub documents as such the master document should not overwrite the Author information (among others) in a sub document. Of course the blank page is a blank page, and that is not what this bug report is about. The problem is about the insertion of a blank page instead of inheriting the page style from the preceding page(s). BTW the solutions that you proposed are not useful, as they do not result in the expected behaviour, being that a new chapter should always start on the right (as enforced by the page characteristic 'right only'). This works almost nicely. The Heading 1 style inserts a page break with a new style that has the characteristic that it always starts on the right page (paragraph style window -> text flow: [x] insert type [page] position [before] [x] with page style [new chapter] page number [0]) The New Chapter style has "only right" page set. This works fine when a preceding chapter ends on a right page, an empty page is inserted and the new chapter starts on the right page as desired. The problem is with the empty inserted page. The pages preceding the empty page have a header, footer and background watermark text that are not printed on the empty page. It seems that the inserted page does not have a style attached to it. The workaround that is now used is to insert a manual page break so there is no need for OO.org to insert an additional page. But this is really a workaround not as how one would expect this feature to work. See for a discussion about this at the openoffice-users emaillist. Master documents are just like regular text documents (.odt), but with the ability to pull in sub documents (.odt files). I respect that, hence I did not not raise the priority of this one and I asked for some attention for this bug in the comment field and not via a priority setting. The compelling reason why this is an important for me (actually us) is, that we based our software test process on the modification date of an individual test. An individual test is stored as a document and this makes it a sub document of a master document. We want to know what test version is used, during testing so during testing the test (sub document) the test modification date is recorded (written down). The test version = the modification date. Now when the same test is re-used later it is possible to determine whether the test has been updated. This can clarify changes in test results... As I want other people in this (MS indoctrinated) company to use the same process, it should be trivial to load the correctt sub documents into the master document. With the current bug this is not trivial at all. One has to process the individual tests and have the right tags removed from the tests. One has to install e.g. cygwin for this, or has to ship the tests to another system and have the processing done over there With the bug solved, it is just a matter of loading the master document. AFAIK the competition does not have this functionality, if is has this functionality it's in an almost broken state ;) In short to be able to sell our current testplan concept to others in an MS oriented shop it would be very supportive to have this bug fixed, I hope that this is compelling enough! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It's the same document I worked yesterday, that resulted in this bug report. It's an existing .odm document. Actually the page that should have the frame is the frontpage, which already contains 3 pictures. Perhaps they are in the way of the new (text) frame? Is there a special reason that this is not > possible, should I enable something to allow text in the frame? This is with > OO.org writer-2.1 on MS XP. The trick is: click beside the frame and then inside the frame. Maybe this is worth a request for enhancement, so that the focus is directly inside a frame when is is created? NB When a frame (or graphic, or object) is selected and you press ESC, the selection is ended and the cursor goes to the text beside it. Subsequent request to open the document are not honered :( Oowriter flash is shown, but the editor not. This is on an openSUSE-10.2 system using oowriter-2.1 The webdav repository is constructed with apache as described at: http://en.opensuse.org/Webdav The same setup has been tried on another system (and network) with the same results. Not only that, I tried it with oowriter on MS XP and that was even worse :( Trying to open the webdav directory in MS' file explorer did not work. So at least in openSUSE-10.2 oowriter opens the document the very first time, (after enquering for the webdav login and password). The subsequent requests fail. Don't remember what happens with the save action, have to reboot to find out... I than mounted the webdav repository with wdfs, in this case oowriter opens the document succesfully. But saving the document results in a save error and the wbfs mount is broken (it needs to be unmounted and mounted again, to be usefull). The prove of the pudding: everything described above works flawlessly with kword... As such the navigator (F5) is a very long list. After a text is inserted via one of subdocuments located close to the bottom of the long list in the navigator, the cursor jumps to the top of the list. This is rather uncomfortable is the next action for me is again at the bottom of the such. As such after each (text) insert action I have to scroll down to the bottom of the list. It looks natural to me that the cursor remains at the position where the action occured. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. See attached example document. It happens on kubuntu with OO 2.0.4 but not on my SuSE with OO 2.0.0. The problem can also be reproduced in OO by creating a text object and then using Format->Position and Size->Rotation and setting Angle to 180. Press F5 and the problem shows. So it is definitely a OO bug. (problem has been at kde first: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138513) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
