I would like to confirm that this persists in 300_M14 on Linux - gentoo-AMD64
installed from the binary rpms.

Going to Tools-Options-Writing Aids and choosing to Edit the IgnoreAllList it
reports Read Only. Needless to say the list is empty.

The IgnoreAllList does not appear to exist as a separate entity, at least it is
not found by slocate

Thanks, jbfaure - I have stopped doing these tests, so had not followed up, but
I agree that on 2.3.1 behaviour is as expected, and should be closed.

Thanks for the query Rainer

This was put in mostly as a record of how-to for future reference.

It has worked consistently up to 2.0.3

I would be happy to mark it resolved unless there is going to be any work on
other methods of adding custom dictionaries.

I have also sent my reference list to Laurent Godard who was working on affix
files for extra dictionaries.

May I please raise this one again

I now have OOC680_m5 Build-3 (Jun 6) running on Mandriva 2006 and it has
regressed to the old behaviour. Language is set to en_AU

Words with apostrophes remain highlighted even after adding to a user dictionary
or Ignore All, and offering alternatives has become extremely slow.

I have just installed 680m165 on my Linux box, and am pleased to say this
problem appears to have gone. Spell checking is also much faster than in 2.0.2.

I had to jump through a few hoops with hand-editing Dictionary.lst to get the
en_AU dictionary recognised, but I will be using this regularly until 2.0.3
comes out I think

Thanks all

I had posted 62340 which has been marked as a duplicate.

In English, adding an apostrophe 's to mark the possessive causes partial
failure to recognise by the spellchecker. If this word is added to the user
dictionary, or marked Ignore all the word remains underlined, but when you
right-click on it, only the formatting menu is offered, not a list of
alternative words.

This is on Mandriva 2006, OOo 2.0.2. The same behaviour is not seen in a
Windows installation of the same release.

Since upgrading to 2.0.2 Ignore all (or a user dictionary) doesn't recognise
words containing apostrophes. I have Windows installation of the same release
and this works as expected.

For instance, I do reports for widows and often quote the husband's name as
dec'd (for deceased). This will remain redlined if I try to Ignore all it or
if I put it in my own dictionary.

It is not entirely unrecognised however, because right-clicking on the
underlined word offers the formatting, not the spelling menu.

Thanks, cloph for persevering with this one. I think I have worked out the
problem, though I am not sure of the solution.

I added another user dictionary extra.dic and set it to All languages.

Put an unknown word into it, and underline went, that is normal expected
behaviour .

Removed the extra.dic, then reloaded a new document, and set up a new
extra.dic but set to English(Australia). Now the behaviour was as before,
word is in the dictionary, but underline remains visible.

Of course, my medical.dic was in English(Australia). Paragraph WAS set to
English(Australia). I have now changed medical.dic to All, and working OK.

If you want me to raise a new bug for this, I will, but it it is probaly so
minor as to not be necessary.

Thanks for the response. What I did not make clear is that I have an
_additional_ user dictionary (labelled medical) and if I add the words to
that, then the underlining remains. If I add them to the standard user
dictionary then they are handled normally. I am collecting the specialised
medical words to add to a Medical_en_AU.dic that I am generating. See issue
52103

I am now using 2.0RC2 on Mandriva 10.1

I have just started using OOo1.9.130 on Mandrake 10.1 /KDE

I have found that words which are not in the standard dictionary and are added
to my user dictionary remain marked as misspelled. On the other hand no
correction is offered on right-click and if I delete a letter, the new word is
offered as a correction. Words are in fact shown in the user dictionary, and
oddly, other words added in previous sessions (ie previous versions of OOo) seem
to be recognised normally.

I have not seen this behaviour in 1.9.125 or 1.9.128

I have been playing around with this and having a look at the Math_es_ES
installation.

It is possible (with 1.9.128) to put a Medical_en_AU.dic in ~/user/wordbook and
edit Dictionary.lst to reflect this. The words then become available as spelling
suggestions, but you have to add capitalised and plural versions. This does not
seem to suffer the ~2000 word limit said to occur with user dictionaries.

Dictionary.lst now reads:

DICT en AU en_AU
DICT en AU Medical_en_AU
HYPH en AU hyph_en_GB
THES en AU th_en_US
THES en US th_en_US_v2

Just put this up so there is an easy reference if anyone is interested in using
their own dictionary.

Just installed 1.9.118 Linux (Mandrake 10.1)

From early in the 1.1.x series I have been adding a personal dictionary as
AU_medical.dic and hand-editing dictionary.lst to:

DICT en AU en_AU
DICT en AU en_AU_medical
HYPH en AU hyph_en_GB
THES en AU th_en_US

This has enabled spellchecking with this list and offers the contents of the
dictionary as replacements.

Making this change, either in /opt/openoffice.org1.9.118/share/dict/ooo/
or in
home/~user/.openoffice.org2/user/wordbook/

words which I know are in my own list are not recognised.

This technique of installing a user dictionary is in users mail archive, but
search is not working at present.

This appears to be a regression. Hopefully it will be easily remedied

Thanks for your attention

Russell

In OOo 1.9.100 there is now no mechanism for adjusting the duration of display
of the Help Agent. It defaults to 30 seconds, but this is too long. In
previous versions one of my earliest adjustments of the interface has been to
reduce this to 10 seconds. This appears to be a regression.

I have a fairly complex template using tables, originally migrated from MSWord-
SO5.2 etc. Just tried it in 1.9.79 (Win XP and Mandrake 10.1) and 1.9.87
(Mandrake) and the formatting in the 3 columns on the Right (centre justified)
changes when opened in these versions - especially the decimal tab stops.

I shall upload samples of each, the .stw was just edited (to remove
identification) in OOo 1.1.3, the .ott version in 1.9.87

See the differences when numbers are entered into the Heart Rate (usually 2 or 3
digits), ST level (1 digit + 1 decimal) and Bood Pressure (3 digits/2 or 3
digits).
