[sw-issues] [Issue 113407] Change choice of Cross-Re ference Display
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=113407 Issue #|113407 Summary|Change choice of Cross-Reference Display Component|Word processor Version|1.0.0 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|rnhainsworth --- Additional comments from rnhainswo...@openoffice.org Sun Jul 25 10:06:49 + 2010 --- When inserting a cross-reference (eg., to Table 3), the initial dialog offers a choice of display attributes, eg. page, type, caption, heading. However, if by error the wrong choice is made (eg. the default page number is chosen when the caption number was intended), there is no way to change the display attribute. The work-around is to delete the cross-reference and then to reinsert a new one. I would suggest that when a cross-reference field is right (double) clicked, the original insertion dialog is redisplayed with the existing attributes as the defaults. Since the entry for Issue #61923 is uninformative, this may be a duplicate to that issue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 108738] donut pie - names for mul tiple series
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=108738 Issue #|108738 Summary|donut pie - names for multiple series Component|Chart Version|1.0.0 Platform|Unknown URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|formatting Assigned to|kla Reported by|rnhainsworth --- Additional comments from rnhainswo...@openoffice.org Thu Jan 28 13:55:54 + 2010 --- Chart will construct donut pie charts with multiple dataseries, showing them as concentric circles. The category names are placed in the legend, but there is no way of displaying the label associated with the data series. Hence it is necessary to manually examine the chart to determine which of the rings is associated with a particular dataseries, and then to label it manually. Try the following data. Select donut. Low High red 1 10 blue2 20 green 3 35 yellow 4 45 Interestingly, if the line chart is selected, the category values are plotted along the axis, and the legend contains the data series names. Suggested solution: An additional legend is needed for the data series, eg. Inner ring: Low Outer ring: High [intermediate rings could be labelled R2, R3, etc] - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 28670] implement explicit resize of legend
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=28670 --- Additional comments from rnhainswo...@openoffice.org Mon Nov 2 07:18:19 + 2009 --- The detail of the changes discussed here are hiding the wood from the trees. When you have developed a diagram or chart that is good, you want to use it (for us in a report in Writer). That means working with all the format options of the chart to increase readiblity and impact (line colours/thicknesses, axis labelling, etc). The legends associated with lines/objects are essential to readibility. But their main format characteristics cannot be directly edited in OpenOffice. The format characteristics can be changed by the autoformating routines, so why is it impossible to provide an interface for direct user interaction. I cannot get the look I want easily, if at all. This leaves a bad taste. I want to be able to change char size, dimensions of legend, layout of legends, line breaks within legends, dimension of legend box. In short, I want to be able to use the standard format tools on the legends as if they were text objects. I first submitted requests for changes in Chart after working with Office 1, and legend formatting was one of them. It is now Office v3.1 and the issue remains unresolved. Surely the time has come for Chart issues to rise in priority. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Could not find work around when I did this. A new data series does not have the same effect visually as it is treated as another line and put in the legend with other series (no way of excluding series from the the legend that I can see). Axis at solution implies secondary axis not used in graphic, but I tend to use both axes. I did try a variety of workarounds. Essentially, I had to put up with reformatting each time. [dba-issues] [Issue 62646] Basic debug hangs on acce ssing row
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62646 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Mar 11 23:09:32 -0800 2006 --- Agreed - biblio does not crash. I used both mysql and postgres databases. The mysql database was set up on my local machine and on a network, the postgres only on the network. Same behaviour in each case. The mysql connection was via ODBC. The driver for the postgres was installed according to the instructions on the openoffice site. Both connections work and tables can be accessed via oo database files. I only reported this as a bug after I changed from using mysql to postgres, as I thought that had eliminated the driver as the problem source. For some reason the crash is not generating a crash report. There is an automatic relaunch of OO2 and recovery of the files open at the time of the crash. However, the 'next' button to open the crash report tool is not on the final dialog. I could not quickly see how to activate the crash report tool. The select statement is not material to the problem. select * from mytable produces a crash, just as the more complex select given below. The following is a simpler test. The code is as follows and the Subroutine works, taking data from a database, placing it in a combobox on a dialog and starting the dialog. But ... Sub SetBankDialog Dim mDialog as object 'get the dialog from the library mDialog = DialogLibraries.getByName( Standard ).getByName( DlgViewBanks ) odialog = CreateUnoDialog(mDialog) 'get the RegN needed for the dropdown list of RegNs oDBContext = CreateUnoService(com.sun.star.sdb.DatabaseContext) If oDBContext.HasbyName(DSName) Then oConnection = oDBContext.GetByName(DSName).GetConnection(richard,123) Else Msgbox(DataSource DSName is not registered , 16,IT) Exit Sub End If sql= select RegN from MetaTable where Operating=true RowRes = oConnection.createStatement.executeQuery(sql) 'put the data into the fields olist = odialog.getControl(RegNList) while RowRes.next count = olist.getItemCount() olist.addItem(RowRes.getInt(1),count) wend ' now put the finished dialog onto the screen odialog.execute End Sub In order to develop the code later, I want to see what is in RowRes. If I put a break point immediately after RowRes, put a watch on RowRes, everything is fine. But when I try to 'open' RowRes, the whole of OO relaunches. It only happens when accessing a database, hence I have allocated this bug here. Richard - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 15666] Search and Replace - can' t substitute regular expression subexpression in replace

Whilst hacking the SR code is needed, I wondered if a macro could be written in Python (which has reasonable regex behaviour), and then attached to a tool bar. Since I am a Perl person (and no time to learn python now), and there is not yet an OO/perl interface, I have not investigated this possibility. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=15666 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 16 00:03:29 -0800 2006 --- MS advertises that its products are used by knowledge professionals. As a financial analyst, I fall into that group. I use spreadsheets extensively to handle data imported from a variety of sources. Often the data needs to be massaged into a form that can then be manipulated by standard spreadsheet functions The lack of a RegEx replace functionality is a critical defect. If I were using Windows, I would have to revert to Excel for this single functional absence. If OO meets its specification as given by Help and does not have a RegEx replace, then the DEFECT is in the Help specification. [sc-issues] [Issue 60212] Row height change inconsi stently affects control
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=60212 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 10 11:35:47 -0800 2006 --- The following issue may be related to this. I was trying to find a work around. I generated an xml file (currently perl CPAN only has modules working on sxc format, so I have been using that format) that is then zipped. Buttons are attached linked to cells, but only giving the width and height properties for the controls in the cell draw definitions. The reason for this is that without OpenOffice, it is not possible to calculate the positions of the buttons. When 'style:use-optimal-row-height=false' is used for the row style, the buttons are correctly aligned to each cell. When the wrap option is set for cell styles and the 'style:use-optimal-row-height=true' is used for the row style. The controls (buttons) become disaligned. What seems to be happening is that when OpenOffice reads in the file, it first assigns the row height, calculates the positions of the buttons. Then it wraps the text when necessary and changes the row height. At this point the buttons become disaligned with the spreadsheet. A sample file is attached. The 'content.xml' file in the zip archive was edited by hand to try to demonstrate the problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 60212] New - Row height change in consistently affects control
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=60212 Issue #:|60212 Summary:|Row height change inconsistently affects control Component:|Spreadsheet Version:|OOo 2.0 Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Linux Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|formatting Assigned to:|spreadsheet Reported by:|rnhainsworth --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jan 8 06:50:28 -0800 2006 --- When I change the row height in a spread sheet that has controls (pushbuttons) in it, the effect on the button is inconsistent, depending on whether the button is in the same row or not. Please see attached example file. If the row height is changed for the first text line (buttons are embedded below the row), all the buttons move done appropriately, retaining their positions relative to original rows. If the row height is changed for a row that includes a button, all the buttons below retain their position relative to the button on the row. But the spacing between buttons is not conserved, as can be seen if the row height is changed on a row placed between two buttons. The issue occurs for other controls, eg. spinners. Changing the properties of the control, eg., to protect position, does not appear to have any effect. My application, from which this example is derived, has several hundred lines, most of which have buttons to contol cell contents. (A spreadsheet is used as the contents are also linked be formulas between cells). The spread sheet is generated from a perl program. But row labels are sometimes too long, and we want to use spreadsheet formatting to adjust the row heights. But then the visual linkage between the buttons and the rows is lost. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Find allows regular expressions. Replace will not substitute in parts of the expression. This was an issue mentioned when I used OO 1. I have recently reviewed issues in OO 2 and I find no movement on the issue. Suppose imported text has dates in the format MMM dd, '02 which are imported (from eg. Quick Books csv files) and I want them to be interpreted as dates in OO. I want to be able to do something like: find string: (...) ([0-9][0-9]), '([0-9][0-9]) replace string: \2-\1-\3 The find string is possible, though note the [0-9] instead of more normal \d which is not recognised in OO2. There is no functionality for the replace. However, it is standard for perl. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have spent more than half a day trying to turn off automatic calculation. All I need to do was scroll down the file scanning for the right part (which turned out to be in Calculatable and fairly close to the top of the file). Every time it hit a picture - the screen froze, leading to overjumping the relevant section. In the end I read the chapter through twice to find the reference I needed. The second suggestion I made (reducing the size of the black and white diagrams) can be implemented automatically using a script with a graphics optimiser. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
