Sorry for this!

My mistake. I'm trying to improve the spanish set of dictionaries, and this
extension wasn't meant to be published yet.

I've unpublished it. When stable, I will upload the corrected versions and
publish again.

Even said that, IMHO OOo shouldn't crash with this, perhaps it should reject to
install the extension if there are mismatches between configuration and
installed data?

Best regards,

Santiago

Also, when checking online with the ODF validator, generated files which have
'smb://' external links are found not to be valid ODF files. This is the error
message:

upload:///Vinculado.ods/content.xml[2,4824]:Error:element table:table-source
is missing type attribute

I will add two ODS files with examples of what I have been testing.

sbosio - kohei: Sorry to bother you with this, but could you confirm this
issue? IMHO it should be raised as a show-stopper for 3.3.

When inserting references to external cells using a file:///... link type,
there are no problems, but if you use a smb://host/... link type, referenced
values get lost when re-opening the files.

I was making some tests on this problem, and get confused about what is getting
exported to content.xml when using smb://host/... links:

First, using file:///... external links only a copy of the referenced cells
for the referenced sheet is saved on a hidden table that has a name equal to the
absolute reference for that sheet. Things works as expected and you can update
the referenced data.

When using smb://host/... external links, values are lost after re-opening the
file. All cells with SMB external references show a #NAME? error.

When updating, a backup copy of the full referenced sheet get saved as a hidden
table. They get names like: Table, Table2, ... and so on each time you
update the references. And updating doesn't solve the #NAME? errors. You should
edit the content using F2, making some movement using the cursor keys and
pressing ENTER for the correct value to be visible again.

When you have manually edited each cell with external references for the values
to show up again, and after saving, you get two tables with the same name (the
absolute URI of the referenced sheet) which I pressume should be invalid on that
context. One of them has a full copy of the sheet, and the other one only has
the referenced cells.

I'm using relative links for saving. I have not tested this with absolute
references.

Best regards,

Santiago Bosio

@vg: Yes, it does have this bug. That's IMHO because those strings aren't found
on the en-US.sdf file either. Some of those strings I only can find them on the
helpcontent strings, but not on UI strings.

I just wanted to comment that investigating further I've found that on GNOME
preferences I'd support for assistive technologies active, even when I didn't
use any of them, but deactivating them took away the crashes even on the not
patched builds.

Perhaps that's why no one could reproduce this problem, but again, it didn't
happen with 3.2.1, so something must have changed on code related to
accessibility features and its integration with GNOME.

Checking for that NULL pointer solved the crash problem, but I'm wondering if
that pointer it's not supposed to be NULL when you really have activated
accessibility tools, and it being NULL on 3.3.0 means that the support for
accessibility features in OOo 3.3 is broken and will not work at all.

Is out there anybody that can check accessibility features on the OOO330 branch?
I have no idea how are they supposed to work, to try myself.

No, it doesn't happens with all documents, but there are at least a couple of
them that make this to happen.

I've send those documents to other spanish collaborators, and they don't have
this problem, but they have other system versions.

I've been testing with my own builds and with the ones provided by the RE team
and both failed. I have even deleted my user configuration directory to start
with a newly created one, but it also failed.

I'm currently compiling with debug symbols to be able to provide a backtrace for
you. Expect it later today or tomorrow (I don't have a good build box, and it
takes too much time to compile OOo).

Santiago

Testing with our own builds with Spanish locale and 100% translated on Pootle,
I've found some extended tips strings not localised on UI.

Searching for them on the original SDF file
(full_OOO330_m4_2010-08-12_06-58-43.sdf), I've found this type of strings:

vcl source\src\print.src0 listbox SV_DLG_PRINT.SV_PRINT_TAB_NUP
SV_PRINT_PRT_NUP_PAGES_BOX 10 en-US - Select
how many pages to print per sheet of paper. 20100812
07:10:59

If you see after the language code (en-US), they come two translatable strings,
separated by tabs, the first (-) is uploaded and translated on Pootle, but the
second one Select how many pages to print per sheet of paper isn't. That
second string seems to be the extended tip text, that doesn't get translated at
all. There are many strings like that one.

Best regards,

Santiago

I have tested this on my own builds and on the last OOO330_m4 build by RE team.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open an OpenDocument text file.
2) Choose Edit - Select all.
3) Choose Edit - Copy.
3) Create a new text document.
4) Choose Edit - Paste.

Writer crashes every time, with all documents.

I tested on my Ubuntu 8.04. Please, try to reproduce and confirm this issue. If
you can confirm it, it should be raised as showstopper for the upcoming 3.3.0.

Best regards,

Santiago

Adding me to cc.

As Roman said, Hide doesn't represent very well what this option actually
does, because the column isn't hidden on the imported file, but not imported at
all.

Could it be changed to something like Don't import, or simply Ignore or
Omit?

Best regards,

Santiago

Tested with an OOO330m1 with 100% Spanish UI translated.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open Writer.
- Click Editar - Buscar y reemplazar - Más opciones - Atributos...
(Edit - Find Replace - More options - Attributes...)

Entries in the Opciones (Options) list aren't localized.

The changeset for CWS ooo330l10n is too big, because localize.sdf files have not
been ordered before updating, so the diff against the previous version has
mostly the same strings removed and added into another position.

This makes difficult for the language projects admins to see what lines really
were changed / added.

IMHO, these changes should be rolled back, all the files ordered, and then
committed again.

Best regards,

Santiago Bosio

Then this string should be changed, IMHO:

importwi.src#sWelcometextLabel1.string.text
This wizard converts documents in %PRODUCTNAME format and Microsoft Office
documents to the new OpenDocument format.

Because it uses %PRODUCTNAME and gets replaced by OpenOffice.org what makes a
nonsense. It should be something like:

This wizard converts documents from StarOffice/OpenOffice.org old binary
formats and Microsoft Office documents to the new Open Document Format.

And that StarOffice line for StarOffice / OpenOffice.org old binary formats

OpenOffice.org should be included besides StarOffice because it used that format
up to the version 1.5.

@md: I understand your point of view, and it is OK, the .sd* formats were
defined by StarOffice, but they were also used by OpenOffice.org up to the
version 1.5. From the perspective of some users, perhaps mistakenly, it was the
OpenOffice.org 1.x format.

Besides that the other strings are not ok in that they use the %PRODUCTNAME
variable that gets replaced by OpenOffice.org, or Oracle Open Office,
depending on the builder. Perhaps, when it was replaced by StarOffice (the
commercial version from Sun) before Oracle's acquisition, these strings had
sense.

If you're going to maintain the StarOffice string, then the other strings
should be changed, and %PRODUCTNAME replaced by StarOffice also. If you don't,
the other strings don't have any sense, see:

This wizard converts documents in OpenOffice.org format and Microsoft Office
documents to the new OpenDocument format.

or

This wizard converts documents in Oracle Open Office format and Microsoft
Office documents to the new OpenDocument format.

On import wizard's first screen all strings that refers to the product have a
%PRODUCTNAME placeholder, but one that is hardcoded in Basic code in
'wizards/source/importwizard/Language.xba' at line 84.

IMHO it should be replaced by %PRODUCTNAME.

There is a couple strings Find in

In previous versions it was DIAS360, doesn't know who translated it like
360DIAS, but that name seems to not work for a function name. Perhaps function
names must start with a letter?

No matter what, I've corrected it in Pootle by now. It will be fixed on 3.3.

Rafaella:

Sadly, we have confirmed new duplications:
BDDESVEST, BDDESVESTP and REEMPLAZAR are also duplicated, so last builds didn't
fix this issue.

OTOH, changes seem to have been done directly on the SDF, and thus, all
modifications made to Pootle that improved the bad UI translations on other
areas were not imported, those errors constitute a show-stopper for us.

That was the reason why we used the builds from Pavel instead of the vanilla
ones from Sun Germany, because those weren't risky changes, just corrections on
UI strings. But this bigger problem of the duplicated names wasn't detected
until distribution, regretfully.

I will attach a patched SDF file to this issue, if a new build can be done. If
not, my personal opinion (that is different to the opinion of Alexandro) is to
take off all packages from distribution, because I think we can't distribute
them with this big error on formula names, nor with the bad UI translation.

Best regards,

Santiago

WORKSFORME - With last dictionary version, and probably not a problem of this
dictionary ever, because that term never was corrected on any dict version.
Probably he's using another dictionary but not the one I compile.

See attached screenshot as example.

Due to lack of experienced translators and reviewers, many flaws were introduced
in the last translation process for 3.2.

These flaws are considered as showstoppers for the spanish NLC, so we had
corrected them on Pootle, and have generated a new SDF file for integration,

We kindly request for it to be integrated before 3.2.0rc4 builds.

sbosio - jsk: I will suggest you that at least the regression need to be solved
on 3.0 or 3.0.1. Perhaps nothing has to be done when moving to an index out of
range, but only throw an exception as on 2.4.1.
As you state, this is first a programming error, but we aren't asking for sheets
to be inserted, or to move the sheet to the end, this would be a feature request
and deserves a separate issue.

Reported by Mauricio Baeza from Spanish OpenOffice.org community

Steps to reproduce this bug:

Open a new Calc document. Create a new macro and write this simple test:

Sub Test

ThisComponent.getSheets().moveByName( Sheet1, 20 )

End Sub

Execute the macro, and OpenOffice.org will crash.

Also, when trying to recover the document, OpenOffice.org hung as if it were on
an endless loop (at least in my Ubuntu 7.04, with the localized DEB package
DEV300_m28 build by Pavel).

Best regards,

Santiago.

sbosio-fme: It seems to be so, I'm not a lawyer, nor I work on a legal buffet,
but you can find some comments on the need for long paragraphs on issue 17171
(http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=17171), related to the
impossibility of Writer to cope with paragraphs of more than 65534 chars.
Also, issue 85570 (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85570) seems
to be a duplicate of this one. See my comments there.

sbosio-mba: let me answer your question. I do some tests, generating a text
file with a wordlist taken from the spellchecking dictionary for spanish, with
nearly 63000 chars on one paragraph. First I open it with Writer, and surprise!
Writer inserted 6 paragraph breaks that weren't on the text file (perhaps it
deserves another issue?). I delete all paragraph breaks to get a big one
paragraph that splits over 14 pages.
Without AutoSpellcheck, I press Del key for 5 seconds at the start of the
paragraph, and Writer took 43 seconds to delete about 130 chars.
With AutoSpellcheck turned on I repeated the test, and still got the same
results, where all words weren't highlighted because I took them from the same
dict that Writer used to check them.
I changed the language to Holland, and then repeated the test, where almost all
words were highlighted, but I still got the same results.
So, as I said, this issue seems to be a duplicate of issue 36304, and it isn't
related with spellchecking, but it is a performance problem of Writer when
editing long paragraphs.

Still confirmed on OOo 2.4.0.
It is true that with a recent and fast processor and a good amount of memory it
doesn't seems like a real problem, but one can still notice that when you edit
the paragraph the processor get's a high use rate.
But such a document could make impossible to work with on older machines, and it
get worst if they are short on RAM memory.
A collaborator on the spanish native-lang community send me a document of nearly
50 pages and only one paragraph.
It was a legal contract and as such, it must be wrote that way, and she reported
that on some machines OOo 2.4 seemed to hang up when editing it.

I think this issue is related with issue 36304.
And the problem goes worst if you try to delete text at the beginning of the
paragraph, and turning AutoSpellCheck doesn't seems to correct the problem.
IMHO it is a performance problem when handling large paragraphs, but it is not
only related to spell checking.
I can't provide any technical details because I don't know Writer internals, but
I have seen that processor use goes to 100% when deleting chars, and that's what
causes the display to update very slowly, and react with a delay that could be
very annoying.

Tested on Win32, but may also affect other OSes.

You could install a langpack from one release version to a newer version, and
the installer doesn't complain nor warn the user about this incompatibility.

We, at the spanish community, have found that installing a new english version,
with an old langpack from previous versions is possible, but then, there are
major functionality problems with the suite, and the installer doesn't notify
that versions don't match.

We think the langpack installer must notify the user that release versions don't
match, and refuse to install.

AFAIK, no.
These dictionnaries were developed by me, and they're hosted on hispalinux SVN
server, not OOo servers.
But there are dictionary packages of the only one version I have published
hosted somewhere (I don't know where) that are downloaded with the wizard.
Some files contained errors, that I have fixed on SVN, but I haven't published
any newer version yet. I could publish new packages fixing the errors found and
adding some extra corrections.
I would need some info such as were to send them once I have the new builds.

Please REOPEN this issue.

I could reproduce this bug every time.
I have an Spanish locale version 680m199 CWS:localisation19.

It seems that somehow, user config of OpenOffice.org Macro Libraries get
scrambled. I will show you a way to how reproduce it, but I don't know if it is
the only way to cause this behaviour. Also, it doesn't happens on Windows, I
have only verified it on Linux.

To verify this, do the next steps:
- Open a new Calc document.
- Show Tools toolbar (View - Toolbars - Tools).
- Clic on the sixth button left to right (Themes selection).
- Themes selection list opens, try different ones, and click cancel.
- Close Calc document without saving.
- Close all OO.org windows.
- Run any OO.org application. Open the macro organizer, you will find that
OO.org Basic Macro Libraries had dissapeared. Thus, all Wizards that depends on
these libraries won't work anymore. Also, you won't be able to open Themes
Selection window again. I don't know why this happens, perhaps Themes depends on
some macro?.

I could attach a diff file with my user configuration before and after this
process, where you will see that library information is deleted.

Best regards,

Santiago Bosio.

Petr:

I finished the translation. I have only one doubt: I translate using locale
chars encoded as UTF-8 (I suppose because it is a Java app), but now I'm
wondering if I should have used HTML encoding for accented chars and alike.
Please clarify this to me.

Best regards,

Santiago.

Some menu accelerators have a bad translation of Shift as Mayos when it
should be Mayús, also doesn't translate minus to menos.

On menu Insertar, item Frame isn't translated; it should be Marco flotante
as reads the dialog's title.

Calc

On menu Formato, submenu Columna, there's item Ancho óptimo!... and it
should be Ancho óptimo... (without the extra exclamation sign).

Draw

On menu Editar, item Disolvencia should be Disolución which is the correct
word meaning action and result of disolving; disolvencia doesn't exist as
word.

On menu Modificar, the first item Rodar should be Rotar, which is the
correct translation of rotate, rodar is translation of roll.

I just send a new attachment with the mail error report content and the Java Hot
Spot Log about this error.

cloph: I see the same delay, but then OOo crashes and the error dialog for
recovery appears. Remember I'm using m118, not m121... Perhaps this is fixed
now.

Will try with other installations to see if I can reproduce this error under
other linux versions or on Windows.
