I've deleted the temporary file in each case (the lock file) but that hasn't helped. Nor can I delete all three files involved, as they are locked. My only solution has been to Copy the file involved and work with a copy - which works normally. In each case I've lost a few minutes' worth of work, as I have my backup set for every ten minutes. It's really frustrating. Can there be a shortcut key combination that I'm hitting without realizing it? If that is the case, shouldn't I be asked if closing the file is what I want? On the other hand, the fact that the lock document remains would seem to indicate that the file was not closed. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I imported it into WordPerfect 11, and Saved it as a Word document (Hagadah1.doc). When trying to open this into OO 2.3.0, it bombed totally. I then opened Hagadah1.doc into MS Word (2003?), where it opened with no problems. When I then Saved it from MS Word as a Word document (Hagadah1a.doc), OO had no problem opening it. Note that all the slash-letter combinations were used for formatting in those prehistoric times. I also tried this with other files, with the same problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Now I know why. My problem was that even though OO Write was set to open up with the cursor where one left off, it always opened with the cursor on the top. The team could not reproduce this problem. Now I know why. The feature does indeed work, but only if one works in ODT format. I am forced to work in DOC format, and there that feature is not implemented. (It is implemented, though, within MS WORD.) It would be nice if the coding could be extended to have that feature work in DOC format as well, so that people could work painlessly without having to lose this feature. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Whenever I open any document, it opens with the document very much to the right, with part of the text on the right cut off. I realize all I have to do then is to shift the document to the left. My computer crashed and rebooted as I was writing a file with Writer. When I went to OO, it asked if I wanted to recover the file I was working on. I said yes and it recovered the file, and THIS TIME the cursor was at the bottom, where I had been up to. Why can't I get the files to open up with the cursor where I left it when I just ask to open a file? It's really frustrating. I'm wondering if my new information will help. I would probably feel less frustrated if this was something that had never worked. Th fact is that it had worked and something broke it, and now I can't see how to fix it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. A number of times, as I've typed text, I found that the cursor did not move even though I had pressed the Space bar, but then when I started the next word, the space and the beginning of the new word appeared. If I kept on typing, I would often then find that after just a few words on a line - in the middle of my sentence - the words on the line would be stretched across the entire line (e.g., if this happened after 3 words, there would be one left, one center, one right), and the next line would continue on then. The only way I've found to solve it is to copy a few lines, move them to another word processor, and then cut-and-paste back. It seems to me that MAYBE I'm hitting a key combination that makes the text of the paragraph fully justified, to fill the entire line. I haven't found any such key combination that would do this. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I might eventually want to move back to that original word, but doing so is very difficult to even get back to it. It would be most useful if there could be a back button in the thesaurus box which will allow a person to retrace his/her steps to earlier screens. By the same token, another button would allow a person to move forward so that the movement can be both ways. I have tried using Esc to shut off the color palette, the pull-down menu to switch to black (and even though the color underneath the Color icon is black, the program still types in the new color). I have gotten to the point that the only way I can deal with it is to type everything in black, then select the text I want, and then change the color for that selected text to the new color. I would have expected the color change to be like Bold, etc., that one can simply turn it on and off easily. That is clearly not the way it should work. Unfortunately, it's not so. I find that when I try to use Macro Express (www.macros.com) to try to arrange a macro which will work only with OO 2.0 (unlike 1.x, where there is no problem), it simply does not take. Only if a define a macro in Macro Express as being universal, (i.e., to work in all programs) does it take in OO - but then I have a problem that it takes in every other program as well, which I don't want. I've been using Macro Express for years, and OO 2.0 is the first program that I have found which will not work when I specify OO as the specific program for which it is to be used. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When I Select a word, Copy the selection, and then Paste it elsewhere, the Paste invariably adds a space before the word I wanted to paste. Now, since in most cases I have already typed a space after the previous word before pasting, I wind up with two consecutive spaces. I don't remember this as a problem until now. In any event, I find it most annoying. While OO will make the change, it will also change the first letter to unitalicized. The point is that if a selected letter is replaced in such a way, its attributes should be retained. Doing so, though, removes the italics from the word I've just typed. I find what I need to do is after typing the word, to use an arrow key or the cursor to move away from the word, and thus preserve the italics - or to first type the word and then italicize it. To me, this is counter-intuitive, because if I am typing new text the normal way to type is to turn on italics, type the word/s, and then turn off italics. I assume the same applies to Bold and Underline. What I mean is that let's say I have a text: The dog jumped, and I want to add the word quick in italics after the word The, this problem arises. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I'd like to suggest a third choice: Change case, which will change whatever case it is to the other one. This would make it easy to program a simple macro which will automatically change the case of the selected item. Maybe this is possible right now using macro programming, but for someone with very limited macro programming experience - like me - this might be an impossible task. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
