This is probably very specific: I am using Debian sid with kde 4.4.3 and
composition on Nvidia hardware in a Dell laptop.

The zoom slider in calc often disappears. It can be made to reappear by guessing
where it is an clicking, which works but gives a wild zoom level depending on
where exactly you click.

I can reproduce this bug by
1. start calc (getting a blank work sheet). The zoom slider is visible
2. Minimise the window, and maximise it.
the zoom slider is not visible. Click on it to make it re-appear, and then
repeat step 2 to again make it disappear.

Thanks for the fix. Now I'm very glad I went to the trouble of reporting it.

I don't know how to verify until I comes to an executable I can download;
probably it will get into the Debain unstable build soon.

Hi Rene. Is the crash fixed AND the native connection functionality fixed, or
only the crash caught but the native connection functionality not fixed? Sorry,
it's not clear to me, because most of the recent discussion seemed to focus on
catching an exception and not on the erroneous attempt to connect via a socket.

Reproducible on
a) Linux Debian/sid and latest 3.1 packages
b) Vista and latest Go OpenOffice.org
c) XP and latest vanilaa OpenOffice 3.1.1

Affects both HSQL and MySql databases.

Attachments show how I reproduce it.
1) Open the spreadsheet
2) Make a new database
3) copy the spreadsheet
4) paste into the tables section of the database and choose to append structure
and data to make a new table.

5) Even after auto-recognition, the two spreadsheet columns formatted with a
date format import as text. One date is formatted using short notation, the
other with ISO

My locale is English-Australia.

Data in a calc spreadsheet which is a properly formatted date value in a cell of
format date becomes text when the paste is done to create a new table (copy
definition and data). Shouldn't it be a date field?

I have taken more time to try to explain what I mean. Please show me the respect
to read this carefully.

1) I don't understand which rule about reporting bugs I have not followed.
Sorry. I not being annoying. I'm trying to be helpful. I'm a user trying to make
the software better. I really don't know what's wrong with my bug report. I've
clearly reported one and only one issue which is reproducible.
The only possible mistake I made is that I have reported a wishlist bug.
Perhaps rather than making it invalid, you could make it issue type
Enhancement

I think this is a bug because ...

2) The import transforms a date type to a text type. I can't see how that is
correct behaviour.

3) Going the other way, from base to calc, works. So it's not consistent.

4) During the paste data wizard, there is an auto recognise data type option.
You tell it how many lines of data to scan, and I supposed it would then make a
good guess about data type. Isn't it normal to expect this to recognise dates as
dates? Competing office software suites offer the same functionality, and this
is why I expected date recognition.
If it doesn't do that, what is 'recognition' doing?

5) I know that you can set a data type manually. That's a workaround for this
bug, in my opinion.

Are my servers reachable? Yes. As discussed in the debian bug report, I get this
on two servers of different MySQl versions. In both cases I've connected with
JDBC instead so the servers are reachable.

I don't recall creating a sort order. I think the problem is the sort order
associated with the primary key, which keeps the name of the original table.
The consequence is that the table can not be opened (in data edit mode)

I have a table pupil
I do a copy and paste to create pupil2 (appending data)
Then I double click the new table to open it.
I get an error 'unknown column' 'pupil.file_nbr' in 'order.clause'

file_nbr is the one field in the primary key. It has ascending sort order.
I suspect that when copying the table, the reference to pupil.file_nbr is not
renamed to pupil2.file_nbr

the more information dialog box tells me

The SQL command leading to this error is:

SELECT * FROM `bellevue_kinder`.`pupil2` ORDER BY `pupil`.`file_nbr`

This bug also happens in 3.0.1

This is the 2.4.1 gdb info:
Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception.

0xb79b62af in ViewTabListBox_Impl::GetAccessibleObjectDescription ()

this is the 3.0.1 output
Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception.
[Switching to Thread 0xb4e5db00 (LWP 11214)]
0xb720e6ff in ViewTabListBox_Impl::GetAccessibleObjectDescription ()
   from /usr/lib/openoffice/program/../basis-link/program/libsvtli.so

Here is how I reproduce this bug:

*** Please type your report below this line ***
When accessibility is turned on, OOo Writer crashes when trying to create a new
document from a template.
This bug is long-standing and exists in the v3 packages.
I'm reporting it here because I think that a fix may be easy and perhaps a
Debian patch is something ok for Lenny.
I will also see if I can reproduce it in the standard ooo build although I
wonder if the standard builds will interract with gnome accessibility,

To reproduce:

1. Turn on accessibility: System - Preferences - Accessibility and then log
off and log on to activate accessibility

2. Start Writer, choose File = New - Templates and Documents

3. Click on the icon for Templates

This causes the crash.

I'll include the other stuff from Debian reportbug in-case it helps. This is
from a system tracking lenny, which is why it's ooo 2.4.1 although I also get
this bug in 3.0.1 as packaged by Debian.

I would like to know if the is is Debian-specific issue or an openoffice issue.
Perhaps this extra information helps?

I am confused about who owns the integration with Gnome's accessibility
feature.

format I can read.

However, thanks to
http://svn.services.openoffice.org/opengrok/xref/Current/svtools/source/contnr/fileview.cxx

I see only one reference to ViewTabListBox_Impl::GetAccessibleObjectDescription

 1055 ::rtl::OUString ViewTabListBox_Impl::GetAccessibleObjectDescription(
::svt::AccessibleBrowseBoxObjType _eType, sal_Int32 _nPos ) const
   1056 {
   1057 ::rtl::OUString sRet =
SvHeaderTabListBox::GetAccessibleObjectDescription( _eType, _nPos );
   1058 if ( ::svt::BBTYPE_TABLECELL == _eType )
   1059 {
   1060 sal_Int32 nRow = _nPos / GetColumnCount();

I am getting an arithmetic error; I guess a divide by zero in line 1060 .

To reproduce:
1) Create a 2.4 .odp file with text inside rectangle objects, with text wrap
turned on
2) Open the file in 3.0 RC3. The text wrapping works fine.
3) Save the file
4) Reopen in 2.4. The text wrapping is gone, although it is still ok in 3.0

My 2.4 is on Linux (Debian) and the v 3.0RC3 I am using is in Windows.

I have the version from Ubuntu, probably hardy-updates.
not only is the test settings option broken, but the email sending of mail
merge also fails. It just stops. No progress in sendin mails. So this bug is
more serious than it seems, because the entire fuctionality of email merge is
broken.

I am encouraged that you can't reproduce this. I thought that it must be an SMTP
server problem.However, in Evolution I can configure my SMTP server as port 25
with no security, and it happily sends mail. Openoffice mail merge fails. No
error messages, it just hangs. I assume you realise that this is different to
sending mail in OpenOffice writer from the File menu, because the mail-merge
feature attempts to connect directly with an SMTP server. From google I see that
many people are reporting the same problem as me. So I am puzzled that you can't
reproduce it. Could you give some more details of your settings? Which port,
what type of server authentication did you set up?

I have a one-table database which includes a memo field.
I have a form to edit records.
When copying some text from another application to paste into the middle of
existing text in the memo field, I observe that the entire contents of the memo
field is deleted and then the copied text is pasted.
It is as if before the paste, the entire existing text is automatically
selected.
I observe the correct behaviour in normal text fields.

The bug can be simply replicated by choosing one word in a memo field, selecting
it and copying it, deselecting, and then pasting back into the memo field. This
replaces the entire contents of the memo field with the one word selected.

As shown in
http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/desktop_integration/ooo_file_thumbnails.sxw
the thumbnails stores the first slide, however the current one is saved.

To check this bug: save a impress file while the current slide (and the
last modified slide?) is N, unzip the odp file and look at the
Thumbnails/thumbnail.png file: it contains the Nth slide, not the 1st one.

I do not know much about the odp format, I may be wrong.

When Base is started, a wizard allows the user to open a recently used file.
If the user selects a file from the list but the file has been deleted or moved,
Base immediately exits with no warning or message to to the user.

Correct behaviour would be to let the user look for the file manually.
