As an annoying side effect:

Do create a page with an outer border, spaced e.g. 3 mm from the text area.

The ruler will start at the border, instead of the text area. Thus it alwasy
does lack those mm of spacing. The first tab at 1 cm is just .7 cm from the
text border. You always will have to add the border spacing.

[sw-issues] [Issue 24557] UI: Ruler and layout disag ree when page border has a spacing to contents

Has this been reverted again?

The example showed the tabs set at 1 cm, which are used properly.

However, the ruler still shows the spacing offset. The example takes 0.5 cm.
Thus the 1 cm tab is shown at ruler position 1.5 cm.

I don't know what has been fixed here, but the ruler's behavior still looks
broken to me.

This context sensitivity is a nightmare, even worse on a slower computer where
there's a significant delay and text shifting.

If you can't turn it off, it's a killer NOT to use OOo.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 111660] Field File Name does no t accept format change

How to reproduce it:

First: use the Menu Insert Fields File Name

This will insert the file name field to the page.

Now do select this field object and press the right mouse button (Mac:
ctrl+mouse)

This will show various options, such as

===
Fixed
Variable
---
File Name
Path/File Name
Path
File Name without extension
===

Selected and shown is Path/File Name.

Neither Fixed nor Variable is marked.
Selecting other options does not change the field behavior.

Additional details:

The feature does work in Writer, but not in Presentation.

When you double click the field in Writer, it does open a dialog in order to
change the formatting. When you double click in Impress, nothing changes.

When you copy/paste it from Writer to the Presentation as a Writer's text
object, it does no longer show the file name at all. However, copy/paste of e.g.
the page number field does work.

I'm not aware of any other choice how to copy/paste a field from Writer to
Impress. But this looks like yet another broken detail.

The menu options do show file name, path, path/file name or file name without
extension. But it is not possible to change the formatting: it's always
path/file name

Impress and OOo should accept date and time formats, as given from the system
setup.

If this cannot be recognized, the user should be permitted to define private
formats.

It's not that helpful to offer language setups only.

Example: -MM-DD, hh:mm would be a valid date format, according to DIN/ISO
standards in Germany. The other, traditional German setup would be D.M.YYY, h:mm
Uhr. The ISO setting is represented better e.g. by the Swedish language setup -
but there's no choice at all to use e.g. -MM only.

I'm afraid that German setup would not even be the default for the German OOo
version.

It is possible in Writer to define those formats, but it is not possible in
Impress.

Last not least taking a different language setup in fact does have no influence,
it is always US format only.

Confirmed on G4, MacOS 10.4.11 and OOo 2.4 Beta - I did not apply the suggested
patch yet.

File Menu contains Use Startup Screen only (disabled).

Edit shows Edit Script, but does not show any effect.
