1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1. It exists also on LibreOffice, which is based on OOo 3.3.

When using mouse wheel to scroll through a writer document with chapters,
headings or other kinds of sections, the current section name pops up as a
tooltip next to the mouse pointer.

Unfortunately, this is exactly the where the human eye is trying to read the
document text. The tooltip gets in the eye's way. Navigating by scrolling
becomes thus much more difficult than it should be. There is no way of disabling
this annoying feature without disabling tooltips altogether.

I would like to have the option to disable mouse wheel originated tooltips
without having to disable all tooltips. This should ideally be set using a
checkbox in the options-general sextion, right next to 'extended tips'.

This issue is especially problematic when dealing with bidi text. The tooltip
appears to the left of the cursor. When working with an rtl document or section
this means that the tooltip hides all the text coming AFTER the pointer, not
before it, which is uncomfortable.

Since switching the position of the tooltip on the fly according to
directionality of the section hovered over is not practical, I think that a
method to disable the automatic tooltip upon mouse scrolling is the way to go.

Pentium 4, 768MB, Ubuntu Dapper (also on Breezy).

After adding hspell Hebrew dictionary using File-Wizards-Install New
Dictionaries, I get the following:
When I open an empty document, everything is fine.
If I open an existing document, or start typing a few letters in a new document,
openoffice suddenly freezes and becomes unresponsive for 15-30 seconds. After
that, mispellings (if exist) are marked on the text. After this happens once, I
can open more documents with no problem until I quit ooo2 completely.
There are no writing aids in use except hspell dictionary (Hunspell). If I
choose not to check spelling while typing, I simply postpone the temporary
freeze to the first time I spellcheck manually.
This issue is present in my system for many weeks now, on clean installations of
OpenOffice from ubuntu breezy and dapper packages (2.02 and below) and on
package downloaded directly from openoffice.org (2.03).
Any suggestions?

[l10n-issues] [Issue 14069] Problems with placement o f Hebrew vowels (nikud | diacritics) in Linux

This bug is alive and kicking, and should not be closed. The CLM family fonts
(known as CULMUS) are by far the best looking and most popular Hebrew fonts for
Linux. Moreover, word vowels work properly with these fonts both with gedit text
editor and firefox browser with Pango support. This problem occure only in
OpenOffice, and unfortunately it is the place where word vowels are most needed.
Word vowels are used not only for biblical text; they are essential for poetry
and for any kind of text produced for young people. I, for example, translate
poetry, and feel really crippled by that OpenOffice bug. Please, please re-open
it and solve it.
