New information:
Apparently, OS X touchpad has emulation issues in that it detects a ctl/touchpad
when touchpad is used with fingers resting on keys but no actual keypress. This
triggers the zoom slider.

A work around to this most annoying behavior would be to allow the zoom-slider
to be disabled in the status bar as an option. Can this be done? I can find no
documentation for this.

Attaching full screen shot. I have the Mac pretty much set up in standard
fashion without much, if any munging. I switch back and forth by resizing
windows to fit two across (ie a PDF doc on the right, oo on the left or on the
second monitor. Then I just point at the appropriate window and click. I use
the touchpad 99% of the time and I don't know if this would be a problem with
the mouse. The touchpad is set for two finger rightclick which is not factory
standard.

In working with a multi-column document with considerable highly tailored
formatting, switching between Adobe Reader 9.1.2 under Mac OS X, details below,
OO writer will somehow grab the mouse pointer and attach it to the zoom bar no
matter where on the screen it is, whether or not the touchpad button is pushed
and keep changing the view size and worse, sliding the document all over the
screen. If you want the document, I can provide it or put it where you can get
it quickly. Let me know. This was not a problem with the previous Mac Version
and it has not been a problem with the last FreeBSD 7.2-Release OO build from
ports. Thanks. If this is a mac unique issue, perhaps you can tell me how to
lock the zoomslider to disable it unless I want to use it. From a UI
perspective on the Mac, the window resizer is in the lower right corner and it
is easy to pluck the zoom slider box, since on my install the zoom slider box
appears to overlap the Mac window resizer. I tried to screen grab but can't
past a jpeg image here.
