[porting-issues] [Issue 81536] Cannot open/save to webdav server with Mac OS X OOo
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=81536 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jul 16 22:59:53 + 2008 --- All I did was confirm this as a QA member, and indicate that it worked in X11 via the OOo dialogues, and that it also worked natively in NeoOffice. If the problem is solved as Eric suggests in his How-to (which it would seem to be because it re-establishes the OOo dialogues), then why wasn't the issue closed ? I only stumbled across the issue because I was trying out webdav access from a remote network to my work machine, found that it didn't work, searched in IZ and came across it. I'm perfectly willing to accept the workaround until such time as the native file picker implementation can be completed to work with webdav, but in that case the issue should be marked Resolved WFM. If someone wants to open an issue, as Maverick suggests, for incomplete native finder functionality then that is fine by me. My guess is that this is a Mac porting issue, there is another one I opened recently about dragging and dropping field names to Writer documents not working. The same visual symptons appear, i.e. the cursor becomes a dot on the screen that can be dragged about, but which doesn't actually do anything. However, I suspect that the visual display error is a result of the absence of the underlying functionality. Thanks for your help !! I've entered this as a defect, since I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be work this way (or was it ??). Apart from the type mismatches, which can be resolved, there is no warning at all until the very end that the schema chosen is going to be one that doesn't exist (indeed the user name). This is immensely frustrating when you have a very large table to import. While I agree that there may be a workaround, then it should at least figure in the wiki or on the OOo dba page as one of the "gotchas" that people ought to be aware of. Just my 2 cents. It is the last but one entry. 8) Click on the Double Arrow button to transfer all fields to the Select Field pane, then click on "Next" 9) Click on the last field in the list (RefBilledTime) and set Autovalue to YES. The keyword IDENTITY is automatically filled in for the autoincrement expression. Click on "Next". 10) Choose "Use an existing field as primary key and select the RefBilledTime field that was set up as autoincrement in the previous step. The "Automatic Value" checkbox is ticked. Click on "Next". 11) The proposed TableName can be left as is. In my case it is "TempsFacturé". Accept the default radio button on entering data immediately and click on "Create". 12) Now click on the Forms icon in the left hand pane, then choose "Use the wizard to create a form" 13) Click on the double arrow button to transfer all fields from left pane to right pane. Click on "Next". 14) Accept the default Subform settings and click on "Next". Bang !! OOo dies and the recovery module starts. This is repeatable every time. So might I ask Sun Legal, where does the problem lie ? Unless, of course, the decision is one of a particular ownership strategy that Sun management has not seen fit to divulge to the community ? As has been pointed out, there are already other forms of licensing in parts of the code integrated within OOo, under alternative permissive with certain restrictions licenses. Whilst I can understand that having all the code "under one hat" so to speak, makes life a hell of a lot easier for those who have to manage, sell, defend it, etc, we are not exactly breaking new ground (in terms of code management) with a code submission such as this, and indeed I would say again that is has been done before, and could be done again. Obviously, this is not what is wanted by the historical entity of the project. Alex And yes, I am a practising lawyer, and specialize in the field of intellectual property. The connection test from within the installer worked fine. I then tried to set up an ODBC datasource document from within OpenOffice.org. This worked and I can see the list of tables when I click on the Tables icon button on the left hand side of the ODB document pane, However, if you double-click on any given table to open it and display its contents (equivalent to the SQL instruction : SELECT * from Table1), or if you attempt to execute a query directly on the table, via the Query button (native SQL or SQL View), even if you limit the responses to 3 (since this is an automatic limitation of the demonstration period driver, this shouldn't be necessary, but I did the test anyway), the following error message is displayed : Driver does not support this function XRow::getLong When you click on the error message window, the table window will then display, but no data is available. I have contacted Actual Technologies and they have confirmed that this problem exists with their driver in OOo 2.1, but not in the OOo 2.0.x branch, which means that something somewhere got broken in the OOo development, or that the driver was making a call that was tolerated in the 2.0.x branch and which now throws an error. It would be nice if this could be sorted, since at present there appears to be no means of connecting a MacIntel to a remote mysql db. PC-BSD 1.2 uses KDE 3.5.3 However, I did notice identical slowness when TCM testing on Mac OSX PPC with the presentations provided on the TCM site. The Esperanto language appears in the list of spellcheckable languages. All of my new dictionaries are installed here : /home/alex/.openoffice.org2/user/wordbook so for me, it looks like this is working as planned, isn't it ? Just confirmed this with Kspread, Kword, Firefox, Nvu, etc. As to the configuration settings, I do not have any such option as you point out, although I know it exists on other OSes. The FreeBSD binary is built by the maintainer with KDE integration, so it takes on the KDE3 look'n'feel. Alex - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Just to further answer your previous question : yes, the crash is only reproducible when going through the Query wizard steps. The table creation wizard doesn't cause any problems as such. Another point that may be important : the table was empty, it didn't actually contain any data, when I started building the query. I'll try and write down exactly what I did so that you can compare. One thing I did notice was that a lock file was created that persisted even after the ODB file was recovered by the auto-recovery mechanism. This lock file may be what causes further manipulation in OOo to kill the Office. Alex - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
