Fixed but maybe confusable.

You need to know in which locale your desktop works. If the desktop has a
English locale you can type 'true' or 'false'.
In a German locale you have to type 'wahr' or 'falsch'. In a German local 'true'
will result in 'falsch', because in German the word 'true' doesn't exists
therefore the result is false.

If unsure, type '1' (true) or '0' (false).

This is tested on an English Windows with an English office but the Windows
desktop use the German locale.

The SQL Statement will no longer build with the String out of the text field,
but with the 'EffectiveValue' which will convert in java to Boolean then to
String which result in 'true' or 'false'.

I tried both formats (String and boolean) to set the filter condition. When I
passed the filtercondition as a Boolean to the method setStructuredFilter()
an SQLException (Syntax Error in SQL expression) .
The idl description of setStructuredFilter says explicitly that the
filtercondition must be passed as a String, so in any way here is an
inconsistency.

INVALID is certainly not a valid resolution - this issue needs to be fixed on
either side.

After investigating the source code, the api could be more tolerant ;-)
Currently the string in the sturctured filter is append to the sql statement
without checking which column name is used and therefor without type checking.
This will be changed in that way that if you use a name = value, the API will
look for the name in the column list and decide on their type how to create the
statement part.

I modified my the creation of the query in such a way that the not the actual
value of the filtercondition is conveyed to the querycomposer but its string
representation (conforming to the instructions of
com.sun.star.sdb.XSingleSelectQueryComposer The following query string was then
created:

SELECT Assets2.MyBooleanField AS MyBooleanField FROM Assets2 AS
Assets2 WHERE ( Assets2.MyBooleanField = WAHR )

opening this query caused the following error message:
The data content could not be loaded
After I manually modified the statement to :
SELECT Assets2.MyBooleanField AS MyBooleanField FROM Assets2 AS
Assets2 WHERE ( Assets2.MyBooleanField = True )

the query worked fine.
How shall we go on with this issue?
bc-oj: fs suggested to send the issue to you to make a decision

When you set the filte by hand you have to be sure which format you have to use.
You could of course that a Boolean column as filter condition, that allowqs the
singleselectquerycomposer to distinguish the type correctly and then it sets a
correct query string for you.

Sorry for the delay. As for the first bit:

1. Open the database
2. Create Query in Design View
3. Add the table
4. Choose the field with the yes/no variable and drag it into the bottom half
5. The field correctly appears
6. according to the help, I should be able to add the criterion = TRUE
(without speech marks), but I get an error message Warning! Error in SQL
statement

This means I cannot use the design view to create a query filtering based on the
yes/no [boolean] variable...
