IOW following patch is about removing OUStringToOString NS_NewNativeLocalFile stuff to work directly in UTF-16. Conversion to UTF-8 is wrong, because NS*Native* expects everything in native encoding (= currently used encoding in your operating system, MS_1250 works for me, UTF-8 not). When mozab driver tries to find Mozilla/registry.dat file, APPDATA path is correct. But when mozab driver tries to find Mozilla/Firefox/profiles.ini or Thunderbird/profiles.ini files, APPDATA path is incorrect. AFAIK there are two different functions for profile loading - one for Mozilla and one for Firefox / Thunderbird. So, it looks like that there is wrong string handling in the second one - this function is inside mozab/bootstrap/NS*Profile*.cxx file. Can't check more now, no source files on this computer. I just started file monitor and discovered, that the OpenOffice.org tries to open ... C:\Documents and Settings\robert\Data aplikac?\Thunderbird\profiles.ini ... file instead of ... C:\Documents and Settings\robert\Data aplikací\Thunderbird\profiles.ini [ wrong ] C:\Documents and Settings\robert\Data aplikac?\... [ ok] C:\Documents and Settings\robert\Data aplikací\... ^ There is 'question mark' instead of 'í'. Screenshot of the file monitor output will be attached.
