Hi,

Please don't close this issue - it is still a hot issue for those users of
UniVerse who want to break away from MSOffice/MSQuery/Crystal Reports etc.

Will try to confirm by end of this week if problem still occurs on latest
verions.

Not sure why an auto-reply was sent to clu - many thanks for requesting
confirmation.

If having UniVerse available would help, free personal editions of UniVerse
for Linux and Windows can be downloaded from IBM. UniVerse is now under IBM
Information Management pillar. You would also need to download the U2
(UniVerse and UniData) client applications to get the ODBC and JDBC drivers

Rgds
Ian Stuart

Ian, could you unzip the two ODBs (they're ZIPs in real) and compare them
file-wise?

Hi,

thanks for that quick response.

Below is the output from the diff of the zip extracts comparing the before and

Sorry for causing unnecessary work, the solution is easier ...

the basic macro is missing the line
oDB.Info = aInfo
in function AddDataSourceSetting, which has been replaced by
oDB.DatabaseDocument.store()
The line was present in the macro attached to issue 15113, but is missing the
macro you copied herein.

(side note: this store call in AddDataSourceSetting is unecessary, since Main
already does this ..)

Changing the line back to
oDB.Info = aInfo
fixed the problem for me. (Well, I actually did not try the Universe connection,
but only whether the settings are written)

Thank you, I should have checked against the original Universe settings.bas

This has me feeling rather sheepish, especially as I tried to enlist the entire
UniVerse user community to support this issue. The side effect I hope will be
that they will be impressed with the response from OOo

This works on Windows now and I will now test on Linux thin-client as originally
intended which, if succesful will mean I can terminate the last MS Office users
and move them onto OOo 2.0.

Regards
Ian Stuart

I can confirm that OOo JDBC on Linux connecting to IBM UniVerse does exhibit the
problem as described with the following exceptions:

 - Once connected to the database OOo does return the table names
 - Table column names are displayed when using Design Mode to create a query.

This is progress - previously no table or column names were displayed - plus the
speed of connecting and returning table/column names is very fast - much quicker
than on a 3.0 Ghz P4 stand-alone PC.

Trying to run native SQL returns the same error message of:

The data content could not be loaded
ResultSet Type 1,005 is not supported

The macro definitely updates the .odb file - I unzipped it and checked. Also,
running the datasource without having run the macro returns no table names and
returns the same error message.

Is there anything else that I could, provide more information etc, to narrow the
problem down further?
Regards
Ian Stuart
