Ok, I see where I actually let two issues of interest creep into this report. (
deleting too many recods, and confusing the IDE ) I know have 2.2 Stable
installed and just pulled 2.3_207 down to my XP machine today. I will go through
the process of trying to duplicate both scenarios within the next couple of days
and report back then, with an eye towards Frank's idea that the focus simply
changes to the master dataform with regard to the number of records being
deleted.

One point regarding Frank's idea that it is just the grid looking as if
a row is still selected. When the delete button is pressed the
confirmation dialog box displays and states that 1 row is about to be
 deleted.

Yes, because you're going to delete the current record in the main form.
However, there's no note in the dialog, and in the form, you can only see this
by examining the nav toolbar, which is way too unobtrusive. Even more so since
the sub form's grid control lets you assume it is still focused.

Can you confirm that for you, the toolbar indicates that the main form is active
after you switched back to the form?

sorry for the delay here.

I just tested this under 2.2RC2 and yes it appears to still be an issue.

In fact I tried to test it three times.

Once I managed to hang OO.o, apparently a work around I had in my library for
2.0.0-2.1.0 incompatability now causes an error in 2.2RC2.. I placed a break
point in IDE to fiqure this out, and forgot it was there...I then changed a line
in the code. Hitting the delete toolbutton in the form caused all records to
delete, but only in the subform not the main form. I then inadvertantly closed
the form, with the macro suspended at the break point, when I then hit the Stop
macro button in the IDE OO.o crashed, went directly into recovery mode and I
sent off the crash report.

The next run I was able to reproduce the deletion of all of the records once
more. Again, only in the subform now, not in the main form anymore.

I then tried to repoduce the steps that lead to the crash..with the break point
set..and this last time OO.o throw a MS C++ Runtime Exception and terminated
abnormaly.

One point regarding Frank's idea that it is just the grid looking as if a row is
still selected. When the delete button is pressed the confirmation dialog box
displays and states that 1 row is about to be deleted.

With delete a line item, I assume you mean deleting a line from the grid
control? By using its context menu, or by using the toolbar's Delete button?

Also, with your latest bugdoc, the macro is never called, since it is not
assigned to any event in the form. Instead, an event is assigned to the Before
record action event of the grid's sub form, but the respective macro is not in
the form (thus the error message).

Also, the macro you pasted above has an inconsistency between the function name
(onConfDelInvDetail) and the return value assignment in the function body
(onConfirmDelete).

Anyway, I assume nothing of this is really related to the problem. Instead, it
seems that somehow, when you switch away from the form and back, or after
showing the error message, Base thinks that the *main form* is the active one -
thus, the Delete button in the toolbar applies to the main form, while the
user thinks it applies to the sub form. That way, the main form's record is
deleted, which looks as if all sub form records are deleted.

I will do further investigations, and try to strip down the scenario.

okay, here comes the stripped version:
- open any text document, or the Basic IDE (we seem to need a document
  with cursor for this?)
- open the attached i69239.odb
- open the form therein by double-clicking it
- focus an arbitrary cell in the grid control (which is in a sub form)
= note in the form toolbar, there is a mention of Record number of 5
That's important, because it indicates that the toolbar currently refers
to the sub form, having 5 records, being on some record number
- with Alt-Tab, switch to the Writer document
- with Alt-Tab, switch back to the form
= note in the form toolbar, there is a mention of Record 1 of 3
It indicates that now, the toolbar refers to the master form, being on the
firs
   of 3 records.

The bad thing here is that visually, it still appears that the cell in the grid
control is focused. That is, the user assumes that all toolbar actions apply to
the grid control's (sub) form - which they do not do. Instead, if the user now
attempts to delete the current sub form record, by using the Delete button in
the toolbar, then the main form record is deleted.

Sorry, here is a corrected database. Open the database and the one form and move
to the second record for one marked as shipped.

Also, the problem stems from the error in the function

  case 1 : onConfirmDelete = True
  case 2 : onConfirmDelete = False

there is no OnCnfirmDelete and the first time you try to delete a record, with
status of SHIPPED you are given a Scripting error message and the record deletes
anyway - but only the one you asked to delete.

Now make the change to the function in the editor - but still leaving the error
in code - just remove some white space - and do it again and you lose all the
records.

I know it seems a little convoluted to get to, and it is - but it must point out
some flaw in the interaction between the base module and basic ide.

Steps ( in order ) required to reproduce this:

1 ) Open the Basic IDE and load the standard library. If you do not have a
module3 crate one.

2 ) Copy this code into Module3 and save the library. Do no close the basic IDE.

const cInvShipped = SHIPPED
const cMsgTitle = Delete Invoice Detail Line

function onConfDelInvDetail( oEv ) as boolean

dim oInvStatus
  onConfirmDelete = False
  oInvStatus = oEv.Source.Model.Parent.Columns.getByname( Status )
  if oInvStatus.getString cInvShipped then
select case msgBox( Remove this product?, 1, cMsgTitle )
  case 1 : onConfirmDelete = True
  case 2 : onConfirmDelete = False
  end select
  else
msgBox( You may not remove a product line _
 chr(13) _
item from an invoice marked as _
 chr(13) cInvShipped, 48, _
cMsgTitle )
  end if
end function

3 )Open the attached database, demo.db

4 ) Open the form Invoice.

5 ) Try to delete a line item. You should recieve a warning and the line not be
delete.

6 ) Toggle back to the basic IDE. Change anything in any module. Add an extra
linefeed, change anything.

7 ) Taggle back to the Invoice form. Again try to delte a line item. This time
the system generated message box will be displayed.

8 ) Answer yes.

All records displayed on the form, both in the sub-form and the main form will
be deleted.

To reproduce again. Close the database without saving, reopen and start from
step 4
