I really cannot imagine that this is that big of a deal to fix, since it is a regression, but maybe I'm mistaken... This is very, very sad for our entire company. It means we are stuck at 2.0.2 until OOo 2.1 is released, which will be... when? I cannot find the roadmap anywhere... I imagine anyone else that uses Input Fields on forms is in the same boat now. And in case the developers are listening - just because there aren't a lot of votes for this issue does NOT mean that it isn't affecting them. Most people cannot even figure out how to log into the bug reporter, much less figure out how to search for this one and actually find it. I imagine this is affecting a LOT of people. :( :( :( - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I guess I understand that only so many bugs can be fixed in a limited amount of time... but it is definitely frustrating when one of the open bugs is one that affects you personally... ;) I do wish OOo was structured such that interim patches for things like this could be released, so that I could still install the newer versions and then apply the patch. Oh well, I am very happy that this is at least confirmed now, and targeted for fix at 2.1 release. Many thanks to the devs! However, opening the attached template, it seems that in fact there's a focus problem as soon as you advance to the next field - which I'd agree is a usability issue. The cursor is about half-way down the input box, and you cannot move it up to the top. If it was just a focus issue, you'd be able to simply hit the backspace key to move the cursor to the top of the field. Are you saying that if you enter data with the cursor like this, it is saved? If so, that is definitely different behavior than I am experiencing. What version of Windows are you using? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. On 2.0.2 OK, crtl+shift+F9 start the field filling, the rest is as in desc15 above. On 2.0.3 NOT OK, observed behavior: When you have filled the first field and pressed ctrl+enter, the dialog window advances to the next field but the cursor disappears, it becomes hidden. And if you start typing, the text appears in the middle of the text area. Now if you press ctrl+enter at the end of the field filling operation, the dialog advances to the next field, but the text just entered is not copied in the respective field area in the document. You can change this behavior only by clicking the mouse on the dialog window text area, with loss of efficiency of the typing operation. I would expect a behavior as described in desc15 for Linux. On 2.0.4rc3 not OK, observed differences as above in 2.0.3 In the test I did as described in desc15, the Linux system was FC5 desktop KDE 3.5.4. Summing things up: it seems a regression introduced in between 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 and in Windows only. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Anyway, the Template I just uploaded is a generified version of our Faxcover. This one only has 4 Input Fields on it, but we have some Templates with 20 or more, and this problem gets exponentially worse the more fields you use. I tried it in Linux, OOo 2.0.3: put the template in my own template directory, File New Templates and Documents choose Faxcover, an empty document pops up presenting a dialog box, fill in the field, confirm with ctrl+enter to close the dialog and go to the next (confirmin with alt+N gives the same result) start immediately filling the field, again alt+N (or ctrl+enter). continue until the end of the document, last confirmation shows document with field correctly filled. So in Linux seems the expected behaviour. Tomorrow I'll give a try with a Windows PC. I have confirmed this behavior on about 20 of the computers in our office (every one that I had already upgraded to 2.0.3). I'm no longer holding out much hope that it will get fixed for 2.0.4 (since it's not even marked as confirmed), which means I will have no choice but to revert everyone to 2.0.2 until it DOES get fixed. Very disappointing indeed. This is the first serious bug that I have ever encountered with OOo, that is apparently being completely ignored by the developers. A serious userland issue like this - especially one that is most likely a very simple fix - shouldn't require lots of votes just to get the attention of a developer. The fact is, this bug makes OOo look VERY BAD to people who try to use simple Input fields on their forms. Charles Marcus I.T. When you have some input fields on a document you can press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to start compiling them in sequence, then you can press OK or Ctrl+Enter to advance a step (to jump to the next field); in previus versions after every step you were able to start writing your text immediately and the field was compiled correctly. Now in 2.0.3 after every step the prompt is focused in the center of the box and if you start writing your text is not saved in the input field after you press OK and close the window. To correctly insert a text you have to click with mouse at the beginning of the text area or press Tab until the prompt gets the focus at that point. This is very annoying if you have several fields to compile. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
