Only an internal testing issue with a workaround available. Don't know how to
fix and investigation is not worth the overhead.

JA: modified original summary crashreporter gets no data in Solaris 10 X86
zone to a summary which better describes the problem.

Until now, we don't know why ansynchronous signals are not passed to the signal
handler on those systems. Anyway it's just a testing issue as we use kill -SEGV
to test crash reporting. In real life crashes are always synchronous signals and
there the problem does not appear. Furthermore there's a workaround for testing:
On a zone enabled machine use the root zone.

I dont know if is the same case, but I'm reporting the same problem a long time
(but no response).

But I'm using Win98SE.

Since a 5 builds, every time that Crash Report comes, there's no data to send.

Hope this issue could resolve my bug too.

Hwoarang

ja-hwoarang : this issue isn't related to Win98SE. It describes a problem
related to signal handling on Solaris 10 X86 only. If the application crashes on
Solaris 10 then a crash report is generated but it isn't generated if the
application gets a signal 11 (SEGV) from the kill command.

As JA reported, it works with a real crash. Just the kill command or a
manually
raised signal doesn't trigger the signal handler.

Moving the issue to next relase milestone for another review.

JA: the problem seems to be a bit strange because the same thing happened on my
notebook last weekend where I installed Solaris 10 and where I'm not using a
zone. Maybe it's related to the network configuration...I'll have to
investigate...
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to retarget this issue. In my opinion Hennes
should debug into this as soon as possible.

Things we can exclude:
/var/tmp is writable
/tmp is writable
the system has a hostname
the system has a domainname
$HOME is writable
the system has 1 GB ram
the sytem has 1 GB swap

When I installed Solaris 10 3/05 (DVD) on my notebook then I selected
everything. I selected all available locales to be installed. Default locale is
en_US.UTF-8

retarget to 2.0.1 because of no activity and needed investigation.

ja: is it OK for you?

JA-HRO: tested this on the same machine from a user within the root zone and
the problem disappeared. From my point of view we should get this fixed at least
in OOo 2.01. Maybe it's just a misconfiguration of that zone but further
investigation is necessary
