I have three jvm on my system and OOo always select the first one on the list. The problem (in my case) is not that OOo cannot overwrite the configuration file: the problem is that OOo overwrite it too much! I noticed that when I select a different jvm under Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Java the file ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/configjavasettings_Linux_X86_64.xml is changed, but if I restart OOo the file is overwrite and the old setting restored! JRE selection in settings would not get saved either. The only known way out of this is to delete javasettings_Windows_x86.xml (or complete user profile). The root cause is that Office can't overwrite "javasettings_Windows_x86.xml". I am attaching sample javasettings_Windows_x86.xml that exhibits the problem. Repro: 1. Close Office inclusing quickstarter. 2. Save attached file to x:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2\user\config\ (making backup of original). 3.
