Most unfortunately, it was on an Untitled new doc, and I don't know where Windows / Writer keeps those files, before they're saved, so no observation of lock file. Will keep playing. /tj/ - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. There was a bug if user name has contained comma, that was fixed for OOo3.0.1. Currently it is planned to get two solutions in OOo3.2 that could probably allow to detect the problem on early stage and track it. The first solution should allow to notify the user if autosave have a problem, please see issue 99615 for details. The second solution is intended to allow to get the log of the last saving process of the document. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It's been biting me for months, under 3.0 and 3.0.1., and defying all my attempts to reproduce it to order. It just reproduces itself, every few weeks. I only noticed yesterday that the lock file had disappeared. I will watch for that, and try to gather further information on just when it vanishes. I always run with Windows Explorer set to show everything possible. I can confirm that the Save, Save As, and save on close operations all fail with the same error message. Haven't tried saving as non-OO.o format. Operations fail under both OO.o and native Windows dialogs. Error occurs on same or different odt files, and once on an odm master file. When I close (discarding changes!) and reopen the file, all works fine; the problem has never repeated itself immediately. Some of my files have commas in their names, and most have hyphens. But wasn't that problem fixed in 3.0.1? This problem wasn't, and it occurs on comma-free file names. If you haven't got enough info to tackle the problem, might you make a start by improving the error message? Add some useful techno-babble to help diagnose this P2 bug. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. (You need to use ls -a.) But, I did search for such a file and did not find one. BTW, the lock file is in the directory when OO is running, and disappears when the document is closed and right after I type ctrl-s to save. This disappearance coincides with the appearance of the error popup. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The document was successfully opened for editing but there is no lock file. I would assume that it is just not shown, since it is a hidden file. Most of file viewers as well as 'ls' command do not show the file by default. To see it please try to use 'ls -l path to the directory' command in the shell, the lock file name in this case should be '.~lock.foo.odt#'. If the lock file is there, the problem looks to be very similar to the issue 94415. Please check whether ',' or ';' symbols are used in user firstname or lastname. It can be checked in Tools/OpenOffice/User Data tab page. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Please try the following: Check which kind of dialogs you use - OOo's own once or if running on Gnome the special gtk-filepicker (check within OOo under Tools/Options/OpenOffice/General checkbox - use OOo own filedialog). The OOo own one should normally work. Try to save in a different file-format. Try to remove the ~lock file before trying to save.
