This shows on the one hand how fragile that code parts are, on the other hand how dangerous it is to integrate CWSes from external developers (like in the case of that feature). In SdrRectObj::GetHdl(..) it can be seen, that either the hatched fat TextFrame OR the EdgeRadius handle (HDL_CIRC) gets created. This was differet in the past and does not only not work anymore for callouts, but also for Textframes. Regular Textframes. This may have been rarely used, but it's broken functionality. Draw a classic callout, that is the object from the text toolbar. Move the mouse to the greatest handle. The mouse cursor becomes a hand. Drag the handle some distance towards the middle of the edge. You get rounded corners. Now try the same in OOo3.x. It is no longer possible.
