Caolan: I agree that it is more correct to use the SAL_INT32_MAX defines than
LONG_MAX and would be happy to integrate the patch, but I would like to
understand why LONG_MAX causes an issue. My assumption would be that LONG_MAX on
64bit systems is larger than SAL_INT32_MAX, and that OpenDocument files never
contain lengths that are greater than SAL_INT32_MAX. So, the ussage of LONG_MAX
is of course wrong because it dies not ensure that the imported values fit into
a int32, but why does the usage of LONG_MAX breaks the import?

LONG_MAX is 0x7fffL on 64bit Linux, and:

$ cat main.c
void main( void )
{
int d = 0x7fffL;
printf( %d\n, d );
}
$ ./main
-1

So, when you assign LONG_MAX to sal_Int32, you get -1.

I see. So, I assume that only the usage of LONG_MAX as default paramater for
convertMeasure breaks the import of usual documents. All other changes of the
code only correct the import of documents that would use lengths that are larger
than SAL_INT32_MAX, which is not the case for usual documents. Corrrect?

assuming that the rest of the ooo-build patches are in the place this patch does
the right thing.

Looking at the generated xml I see that there is still a suspicious value for
text:offset= on export, but that seems to be seperate from this problem.

jack_malmostoso: thanks for investigation!

So: missing directory Pictures is one problem.

Another problem is corrupted PNG. Can you please attach both PNG files so we can
compare their hexdump -C outputs? What is the size of them?

Yes, it is a known problem - OpenDocument files load, but the pages are empty.

MS file formats look better ATM, but even they have problems.

jack_malmostoso: Do you think you can have a look at the issue, and help with
the porting? We do not have enough people now to address all the porting
issues :-( If you are interested, look here, please:

pjanik: I have created two files (AMD64 and i386) in OO.o Writer that contain
the sentence This is a test file.. I have opened them and the behaviour is
confirmed.
I unzipped them and this is the result:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Test_OOo$ ls test_32
Configurations2  META-INF  mimetype  settings.xml  Thumbnails
content.xml  meta.xml  Pictures  styles.xml
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Test_OOo$ ls test_64
Configurations2  META-INF  mimetype  styles.xml
content.xml  meta.xml  settings.xml  Thumbnails

As you can see in the 64bit created file the directory Pictures is missing.
In
the directory Thumbnails on the other hand, the png file created by the 64bit
version is corrupted, while the one of the 32bit OO.o Writer is fine.

I have attached the diff of every textfile in the directories, created with
diff
-uprN. The diff are attached to this message.

I know AMD64 is still experimental, so I'd like to help somehow :)

kendy: I have not tried with .doc files.

As for participating in the port, I can test anything, but as I said I cannot
code so if participating=patching... well I cannot really help :(
Hope this will help somehow!
