Unfortunately, your howto seems to be out-of-date. It is unclear, what is set of MinGW toolkit, what can I take instead of missing mingw-runtime 3.11 (I couldn't find it on the page). What do you mean by No such consideration is required for Native MinGW toolkit? What should I use - separate MinGW installation or cygwin's one? What are the so-called best practices? Can you please supply step-by-step installation guide for MinGW (cygwin or whatever) environment? I mean the part, where MinGW differs from regular OOo environment, of cause. I am proposing the simillar way as we are including dblhelp or msvc stuff. The new readme file and the modification to external/prj/d.lst is not yet accepted in the cws. Is it a wrong way? 2. scp2 The modifications to link psprint library routines staticaly are accepted in the cws but the modification to remove the dynamic library dll from the installation set is not yet accepted. It will break the build of instsetoo_native. 3. config_office/configure.in The change is not yet accepted. As I wrote before, AC_SYS_LARGEFILE check (line 992-999)implies the set of CC environment and must be placed after the CC check for mingw (line 1104-1143). If it affects other platforms, it my be better to move line 1085-1143 to just before AC_SYS_LARGEFILE. What do you think? (The shell check in line 1085-1102 must be moved because of dependency.) 4. python The changes to python patch seems to be stil under investigation. The problem with tg_def.mk can not be regenarated at my site with VC++ build. It seems to me that dmake is failing to expand the macro in case it is quoted and failing to create appropriate .def file. It may depend on the version of dmake. I will update the patch to do it conditinally but mingw build may also fail with the particular dmake version. The typedef expansion in libxmlsec is needed because mingw cannot accept relocatable data reference automatically imported in constant storege. It does not break the build but the dll crashes at loading. The expansion is removing const specifier and such removals of const specifiers are already conditinally included in dbaccess, sfx2 and sw although they are not in typedefs. It can be improved by explicitly delaring them with __declspec(dllimport) and I am trying to do so, but it will take some time to test it. If you think it better to do so before integration, I will be in a haste. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So, you are saying mingw has a bug causing C code like void f(void); struct s { void (*f)(void); }; static s const x = { f }; to misbehave, while void f(void); struct s { void (*f)(void); }; static s x = { f }; would work? I would suggest you add some comments in the patch file, then, to make it more obvious why you need the (subtle) change. The problem only occures data reference case. If the symbol is not marked for import but actually resolved with a dll, the ld linker provides import section and add code rewrite the address at loading. If the reference is declared as dllimport, compiler does appropriate arrangement and no problem will occur. The gcc for windows emits warning if a function with dllimport is inlined and what is even worse, the warning cannot be suppressed. Therefore currently I am defining SAL_DLLPUBLIC_IMPORT to null so as not to cause many useless warnings. The libxmlsec.dll exports symbol xmlSecNameRSAKeyValue (of type const xmlChar [], xmlsec1-1.2.6/include/xmlsec/strings.h). The libxmlsec-mscrypto.dll references that symbol from static const data (xmlsec1-1.2.6/src/mscrypto/certkeys.c). As far as I understand you, this fails unless at least either (a) xmlSecNameRSAKeyValue is marked as __declspec(dllim-/export), or (b) the reference to the symbol is from static but non-const data. (Where the current patch uses (b) to fix the failure.) The declaration of xmlSecNameRSAKeyValue in xmlsec1-1.2.6/include/xmlsec/strings.h is prefixed with XMLSEC_EXPORT_VAR, defined in xmlsec1-1.2.6/include/xmlsec/exports.h. For non-_MSC_VER compilers it just expands to extern. Wouldn't it work to let XMLSEC_EXPORT_VAR expand to some __declspec(dllim-/export) magic for mingw instead (i.e., to fix the failure with (a) instead of (b))? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The fragment mh-mingw is being used now and the patch got minimal. I included modification to change unicode expression, library naming and workaround for cygwin environment. As long as python is concerned, I think the cuurent incremental patch is OK. The changes in configure are: 1. Cleanly separate the check for windows.h for threading support for cygwin and do not check other threading support. 2. Give up workaround for getpeername check as the previous solution is modifying autoconf internals. Now the getpeername check is separated for cygwin and use winsock.h. 3. Checks for /dev/ptmx, etc. are separated by $ac_sys_system instead of $MACHDEP. The change in configure.in seems to be suspicious but it only includes above changes and existing modifications which are not synchronized with configure. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I remembered that because of relocation functionality of mingw, I removed constant attribute for those structures. There may be some workarounds but I currently find no way to specify constant attribute to data including relocatable reference. The dll crashes at initialization. I will attach patch set fixing the comment 1-8 for the current cws. 1. external/glibc-2.1.3.patch The patch is needed because __argc and __argv are defined as macros in mingw environment. So I have changed the names in the prototypes in getopt.h. However, the new names may coincide with something in other environments. So I followed your advise to make them conditional. 2. shell/source/win32/shlxthandler/makefile.mk Yes, $(COMCTL32LIB) is not required for MSVC or other managed platforms where comctl32 entries are dynamically resolved in case the isolation awareness is specified. I made it conditional. 3. libxmlsec/xmlsec1-1.2.6.patch The checks for .a style import library may be dangerous for some other platforms and I made them conditional. 4. config_office/configure.in The check for AC_SYS_LARGEFILE implies the use of the compiler and must be done after $CC is fixed. 5. salhelper/source/mingw_intel.map This newly added file is missing. 6. solenv/inc/tg_def.mk The arguments in LIBRARY statements have to be enclosed in double quotes if it includes two or more '.' for GNU tools. It does not do any harm to MS tools. 7. tools/inc/tools/solar.h SYSTEM_WNTGCCI is defined twice. 8. psprint Some new patches are supplied for psprint, scp2, solenv and vcl to use static link. Please note that psprint/util/libpsp_mingw.map is no longer needed. 9. icu I am going to include host parameter in makefile so as to use mh-mingw. Some patches should be needed to conform with OOo's unicode expression convention. I will check them in a couple of weeks. 10. python The tricky configure script is to make aware of Windows native thread handling but I think just always using it in case of mingw may be safer and easier to understand. As icu, I will update the patch in a couple of weeks. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
