All other locales use English keywords. One day or another I'll do some change that all locales will accept English keywords, but until then unfortunately for some locales there are differences. There's a table listing them, see http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/OfficeDev/Implementing_a_New_Locale under FormatCode usage=DATE and FormatCode usage=DATE_TIME - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. All format codes given in the localized help files must be the same as in the localized code. Of course, this is necessary for all languages we provide. (another solution would be to allow the English format codes to be used in the localized versions, too. But as there are only 26 letters, I'm afraid that would lead to some problems in some languages, when for example DD means the same as month somewhere) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I don't think my installation doesn't even have help in Finnish. Being a programmer, I would much prefer that the macro language that wasn't itself localized. However, that would be a backwards-incompatible change, and I don't think it would be practical to implement that in OO.o. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Then it is quite possible that nothing in the help matches what you see as menu names, icon names, and so on. You wrote about Calc formulas. They are localized at least in some languages, for example the SUM function is called SUMME in the German version of OOo. The macros are the programming language that is used in OOo Basic. As far as I know, those Basic macros are never localized, they always are in English, so you would alway use the English format codes when you program in Basic. Please wait for the Finnish help to be ready for your Finnish OOo suite. Will close this issue as Invalid. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. They are still what I meant. I'm also at loss as to what made you think that my OO.o UI is in Finnish. I looked into the English OO.o help in OO.o with English UI, and locale set to Finnish, as described in the original post. For time formatting, these codes work, but in my Finnish locale the date formatting codes are different. The help page should use the same formatting codes that the software expects. How to verify: 1. Create a new spreadsheet in Calc. 2. Set Locale to Finnish via Tools - Options - Language Settings - Languages - Locale 3. Insert the formula =TEXT(0;DD.MM.) into a cell 4. Verify that formula does not produce a formatted date 5. Insert the formula =TEXT(0;PP.KK.) into a cell 6. Verify that formula produces the date 30.12.1899, ie. 0 formatted according to how DD.MM. in Help would suggest 7. Open help via Help - OpenOffice.org Help 8. Find number formats page (Index - number formats - codes) 9. Find Date Formats section and see the formats 10. Verify that formatting is not done according to the formatting codes in Help, but instead some other, undocumented codes - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
