Word:Mac 2008 opens these files with no problem, and identifies them as Word 97 - 2004 document. I am working on an automated document conversion to PDF system, and when the conversion queue hits one of these DOC files, the worker OpenOffice process hangs indefinitely and needs to be killed and restarted. This issue has been discovered while running a headless OpenOffice on Ubuntu 9.10, but I've confirmed the same behavior when manually loading the file in OpenOffice on Mac OS X 10.5.8. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
