The title of this report says paste this into a bug report. I did that, and got a response [Issue 116807] openoffice writer crash when opening .doc file with the content below. It says I am using too old a version, but I actually am using the latest version, 3.3+ (I tried to solve the problem by updating, which didn't work -- nothing to do -- and then by removing and reinstalling.) So, I hope you will not declare this issue resolved. It is real. I did not find anything helpful by searching, and I am willing to do whatever you say will help to specify and identify the problem. Make sure you are using a current (3.3) and native (from our site) version. Opening OO Writer without a file (new) was successful. Then I closed OO Writer completely, and tried to open an existing doc file. This was successful, so opening and closing Writer apparently cleared some error that had prevented opening a file and produced the bug report.
