The problem may be caused by manually entering a reference to the contents of cell A1 in the format =A1 This works in Calc, but in Writer it doesn't work. If you reference by first pressing key F2, then clicking into A1, you see the correct formula with the format =A1 A range is referenced like =A1:A3 and the resulting cell will contain the sum of cells A1 to A3. Don't know why it is the sum and not the maximum or the mean value.
