As I said, the problem occurs only after some working with OOo and I couldn't find out which steps have to be performed to reproduce the problem. However, I found out that it also affects images that have already been integrated into a text document before: When opening the document the image displayed fine. After some working with OOo instead of the image a read error was displayed. Although it has alpha transparency, this is nothing unusual and I imagine OOo can handle this ok. However, the 'IDAT' (image data) chunks are split into blocks of 8,192bytes resulting in 6 chunks, where most images have just 1. This might be a problem for OOo when rendering the png image. Please find attached a new png file, with all 'IDAT' chunks consolidated. Does this solve the problem?
