However, I don't think the url of the image is the problem. I attached a writer document that demonstrates the problem. I pasted a section from http://nl.openoffice.org that contains two images. One of those is shown in the document, the other one isn't. The url of both images starts with http://nl.openoffice.org, so according to the theories in this issue both images shouldn't load. I think the problem is with the file type. The first image is a jpg file, the second is a png file. It seems to me that the png's are the ones that fail to load. I have been creating & editing web pages for several months using ver 1.x with no issues concerning the images from the web. I upgraded to ver 2.0.3 after a harddrive replacement and now the same web pages that worked fine in ver 1.x will not retrieve the images. Writer locks up completely and will not respond. In playing around, I was able to get writer to download a very small gif file without locking up.
