2008 ---
MRU-FME: could you please have a look whether this is a macport issue or if the
problem is in general code? The problem is only reproducible on MAC, on Linux
and Win this behavior does not occur.
You just need to cretae some dummy text and insert a footnote in the right part
of the text. The word, where the footnote has been added will be forced to break
into a new line.

When inserting a footnote near the end of a line, a newline is forced even 
though the text has room on 
the existing line.  Here is an example:

In my document, a newline was inserted before maybe3 which is the third 
footnote.
