Re: [Alsa-user] Intel HDA with VT8251 gives high pitched noise

But I'll have a look. Simply build and install from alsa-driver tree as external modules. Ok, I have now tried with 1.0.16rc1 (as 1.0.15 does not support kernel 2.6.23), but the effects are still the same. Still high-pitched noise on line and mic and still no system beep at all. Any further ideas? Greetings, Stefan -- Stefan Bellon - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Alsa-user] Soundcard only works every other login

The Mia now appears to work every time I boot up, but I only managed to do this by disabling the built in Intel sound card in the BIOS. Not an ideal solution. When both cards were enabled, the Mia didn't work on alternate boots, and I found that it wasn't being assigned an interrupt - interruptslist-installed.txt shows the interrupt list when the Mia is working and interruptslist-notinstalled.txt when it isn't working. I can't tell why this is, but lspci always shows Mia in the list. Does anyone know why the interrupt would be assigned only every other boot? Is this an ALSA question or a question for some other group? I don't know, but when the driver can't install the IRQ handler it should write cannot grab irq\n in the logs (type dmesg or look in /var/log/???). Please check it out. When something fails the drivers frees all its resources before exitting, so obviously you don't see its name in /proc/interrupts, but it doesn't mean the problem is IRQ related. -- Giuliano. - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Alsa-user] Multi Channels only working in passthrough mode
I have a soundblaster Live!, emu10k1 Jim Johannes Bauer wrote: Jim Duda schrieb: I'm trying to do the same thing you are. My linux distribution (Fedora 7) doesn't include the a52 plugin by default. I had to download and build the alsa-plugins from the alsa site. Alright, I got this running for my Gentoo box... After getting the a52 plugin compiled and installed, I sorta works, however, the audio cuts in and out. I haven't been able to figure out why. See my post on 1/8/08. Okay, I read your problem... streange, it doesn't occur with my output - my config file is essentially the same as yours (except that I have the stereoupmix filter as default). I also have seen that you didn't get any replies - that's sad - what kind of soundcard do you have? Greetings, Johannes - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Alsa-user] Opposite of type multi plugin?
Hello list, is there a plugin which does the opposite of the multi plugin, i.e. it should duplicate a stream and have multiple slaves (one stream to multiple)? The reason I'd need this: default goes (over some corners) to the softvol plugin, which goes to route which encodes a A52 stream. Now I don't have headphones set up. What I'd like is the following: /-- route - A52 default - ... - softvol - duplicate - \-- hw0,0 Where at hw0,0 my headphones are connected. How is such a setup possible? Couldn't you use the multi plugin for this anyway? If you bound hw0,0 and route in your diagram above to a single four-channel device, then you could bind the incoming stereo signal to both the front and rear speakers of the four channel device, effectively sending the same stereo signal to the two devices.
