2.4.3 on Solaris 8 - fails to see readline
Hello fellow Amanda lovers, Having some difficulty when compiling 2.4.3 on Solaris 8. Running CONFIGURE script gives a warning that readline library is not installed, so no indexing & other good options for amrestore, etc. (I do like those options though and would like to have them!). Anyway, READLINE (ver.4.2) is there. I even tried configure --with libraries=/usr/local/lib (as this is where readline et al are installed..) - same result. It does find readline/readline.h and readline/history.h, i.e. header files, but not library itself.. Other detail -- if using readline 4.3 (latest release), this error does not occur, but fatal error causes termination during MAKE stage. Any similar experience and/or suggestions?.. Readline 4.3 library
Hi, Tried using newest readline library (version 4.3) -- seems that amanda 2.4.2p2 would not compile with it well. (Actually, building readline gives a suspicious message "you may need to run ldconfig" after running make install). So, latest & greatest is not necessarily the best.. readline 4.2 worked ok. Anyone having same experience yet?.. Cheers, Oleg
readline & termcap libraries?.
Title: readline & termcap libraries?. Hi Group, Can anyone advise -- which version of readline library should be used?.. GNU site has v4.3, while the amanda docs recommend 2.2, so does that matter?.. Also, should readline use termcap (there is 1.3.1 dated last month or so..) or ncurses?.. I am putting all that together on SPARC Solaris 8 (if that matters..) Your advices will be deeply appreciated. thanks, Oleg
Please help: disk offline? error for HP-UX 11.0...
Please help me out, folks -- tried a bunch of things, I really do not know how to proceed.. Can not get amanda (2.4.2p2) to work for HP C160 running UX11.0 Amcheck runs through fine. But then dump gives me zip /zi2 lev 0 FAILED [disk /zi2 offline on zip?] Dumps are not that big - under 10GB, while I am using 20GB DLT tape. Some previous info in the amanda archive suggests checking the raw device filepermissions -- i have set all that correctly I believe. So, what else am I doing wrong?.. All your help will be greatly appreciated. - Oleg
Tar 1.13.25 on HP-UX
One more thing to ask. I have installed GNU tar 1.13.25 for HPUX 11.0 from the HP archive server (hpux.cs.utah.edu) (hoping i would save time adding it by swinstall rather than compiling). Gettext and libiconv (as required by gnu tar) are in place. It now prints the message /usr/lib/dld.sl can not open shared file /usr/local/lib/libintl.sl That file does not exist. I used tar 1.12 before -- it never asked for it. Any ideas how to get it?.. Should not GNU tar README specify then it is required?.. Not exactly related to amanda code, but since GNU tar is widely used/discussed here, I thought I'd ask.. Thanks for your help, Oleg Oleg G. Compiling 2.4.2 on HP-UX 11.0
Need help, fellow Amanda lovers.. :) I am trying to recompile Amanda 2.4.2 after upgrading HP C160 to HPUX11.0. Looks like the machine is lacking even basic things, like lex and yacc. How do i get those for HPUX?.. On Solaris they come with OS; somehow my HP is missing them.. Is there anything else I need for a successful install on HP?.. Thanks, Oleg Oleg G.
