I could but I would prefer to maybe start some kind of howto or
collection of examples that might go into the docs.

There are many bits of knowledge spread over dozens of mails in the
mailing list ... maybe we could get some document ready with stuff like
that? I will think about the best way to start that. A file in my
amanda-fork on github?

I mentioned it: one external disk is attached, the other one is out of
office. It can't be mounted because it is currently stored off-site.

I agree: if I want to vault all FULLs from storage "vtape" I have to
attach both drives at the same time ... for now it's testing and I play
with only subsets (single servers/DLEs).

ah, OK, it seems that my autolabel doesn't work (it didn't force writing
the label over the "amtapetype"-label that was currently there).

I had to label the tape in "band" first (manually via amlabel, wasn't
done via autolabel) now my amvault command starts vaulting.

Thanks for that.

Suggestion: could there be additional info as maybe:

storage "band": No acceptable volumes found

?

That would make things easier, right?

thanks, regards, Stefan

Off hand (without seeing the log files) I would guess that a "No
acceptable volumes found" message indicates that Amanda can't find a
volume it's willing to write to on the *destination* side of the vault
operation

Stefan,

Which disk is UUID=5a5a9927-995f-4f0f-98ff-d222561f84ff, why amanda
can't mount it?

The 'No acceptable volumes found' message is from which storage? Are you
sure you have a tape in band that amanda can use?
You can run 'amcheck CONFIG -t -ostorage=band' to find it.

vault from aggregate changer to tape

2017-11-27 Thread Stefan G. Weichinger

I try to set up this:

1) storage "vtape" : an aggregate changer running 2 external disks

plus : allow-missing-changer yes -> one external disk is out of the
building ...

2) storage "band" : a tapedrive

I want to transfer fulls from vtapes to tape, dryrun shows DLEs:

$  amvault  --latest-fulls --src-storage vtape --dest-storage  band
vtape --src-timestamp 20171110231503 server --dry-run
mount: can't find UUID=5a5a9927-995f-4f0f-98ff-d222561f84ff

vtape-002-001 2 server /etc 20171110231503 0 1660.8408203125
vtape-002-001 4 server /var 20171110231503 0 454266.641601562
vtape-002-001 6 server alte_klienten 20171110231503 0 691883.500976562
vtape-002-001 12 server daten_1 20171110231503 0 25933110.8994141
vtape-002-001 14 server daten_2 20171110231503 0 24173246.1152344

that vtape-002-001 is on the external disk which is currently attached,
but without "dry-run" this fails:

$  amvault  --fulls-only --src-storage vtape --dest-storage  band vtape
--src-timestamp 20171110231503 server
mount: can't find UUID=5a5a9927-995f-4f0f-98ff-d222561f84ff
No acceptable volumes found

To me it seems that amvault can't handle the fact that one of the two
changers within tp-aggregate isn't attached?

I think this should work, though.

Jean-Louis?
