[AMRadio] 6 meter AM
I know not too many folks are in the Western NC or SC area, but we have had a nice net going on for a few years now on 50.4 Mhz AM, starting at 8 PM on Tuesdays. Besides a couple of more modern rigs, alot of classics are still radiating. Benton Harbor Lunchboxes, Ameco TX62's, Clegg, to mention a few. Have not had much luck migrating the group to 2 meters yet though. One thing VHF nets prove though, is why repeaters were invented. You could wear out a couple rotors trying to work everybody on one evenings net. Charlie, W4MEC in NC __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: [AMRadio] 6 meter AM
Sadly I must report that the Central Florida Tuesday evening net on 50.4 MHz AM has migrated to SSB. Perhaps I can help revive AM in this area with some other guys if life slows down a little for me. Does anyone know if the DC AREA 6m AM net is still going? I think it started over 40 years ago. The last that I heard they were still running that net! I think it may possibly be on Sundays. 73 de AF4K, Bry I know not too many folks are in the Western NC or SC area, but we have had a nice net going on for a few years now on 50.4 Mhz AM, starting at 8 PM on Tuesdays. It was installed in a 5-foot rack! with band switch, and vac variables, etc. Beautiful job. He even reinstalled the ID plate and large RCA logo on the front. Looked very professional. I understand he eventually sold it. These guys are regulars on the AMFONE.NET forum. http://www.amfone.net/Amforum/index.php That's it for now. 73, Ed, VA3ES - ROBERT RICKARDS wrote: JUST GOT AN RCA BTA-1R. Re: [AMRadio] BTA-1R
Hi Robert, My first suggestion would be, if you don't have them, get every issue of Electric Radio Magazine concerning broadcast transmitters, especially the BTA series. If you Google RCA BTA-1R you'll get a multitude of links that can assist. You might also want to contact Larry Will at Larry Will [EMAIL PROTECTED] Larry has written several articles concerning his conversion of RCA transmitters. I have a 1R2 that I am almost ready to put on the air on 75 and 160. Hope this helps. Rick/K5IZ ROBERT RICKARDS wrote: JUST GOT AN RCA BTA-1R. Re: [AMRadio] BTA-1R
Hi, I have been running a BTA-1R1 on 160 for several years now. It was written up in ER awhile back. Contact me off the reflector and I'll fill you in. I grew up on this transmitter.
