2007-12-07 Thread Warren Elly

Gentleman -

We are all indebted to the 'greatest' generation, to our fathers and
mothers who suffered through the great depression, and triumphed in
world war II.
Their work ethic, patriotism, and incredible ingenuity saved the
world from evil. Just think of all the wonderful technologies that
came from it. Communications and Aviation took tremendous leaps, and
the hams and engineers among them took us to the next level.
On this special day of dastardly deed and horror, let us remember
this day as a beginning, the birthdate of the struggle that made heros
out of so many ordinary folks who answered the call for children, all
these years later, not yet born. God Bless the Veterans and the USA...

73...and happy AMing!

I have personally known two men, both now deceased, who were at pearl harbor.
One was a ham, Tom, WB5PJP, who watched it all happen while taking cover
under a large truck ( he was in the army air corps).

you know, I have several old wooden radio's from the era, and I have always
imagined a family sitting around one of them listening to all of this unfold.
Incredible.

I will say thanks to all vets of all of our wars who were willing to put
thier lives on the line doing what was right.

My own father made two combat jumps with the 82nd A/B, at Normandy, and in
Holland.

all of these men and women left big footprints.

What are the preferred brands? Searching the web gives a lot of conflicting

I agree about the guitar shop. The Marshall amps use
EL34 tubes and are pretty tough on them (like me, I'm
a guitar player) I like the JJ tubes as they were the
Tesla brand and are made in the Czech Republic. They
also have a model with beautiful blue glass envelope.

for the 6CA7 for testing purposes.

I got the transmitter working with the "old"
6CA7/EL34
tubes. Now to order some!! Has anyone had much luck
with the cheaper import 6CA7 tubes such those sold
by
Antique Radio Supply under the brand names of JJ
