Hi John,

First go to this page http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amswap

Fill out the blanks and hit the Subscribe button on the bottom.

Within a few minutes you should receive a message in the inbox of the
email address you entered telling you that your address has been
submitted.

It will also give you three ways to finish the subscription. One is to
hit the "Reply" button and change nothing. This should do it.

Try again and if you have trouble I will take care of it. Email me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Tnx and 73

[AMRadio] AM Swap List

2008-03-05 Thread Jim Wilhite
Remember ladies and gentlemen that the AM Swap List is separate from AM
Radio.

You will have to subscribe in order to post or answer. To do so go
here, http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amswap

You will have a separate account for each list.

You can use your current password for the AM Swap List if you choose,
but it is your choice.

If you use the "Reply" button it will go to the person who posted and
not the entire list.

If you hit the "Reply All" button it will go to the poster and entire
list.

Also Brian is very busy with his day job at the moment. He took time
out to set up this list for us out of his day job.

So if you have trouble, or need help, please email me for the time
being.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I will take care of it for you.

Thanks for your help and cooperation

2008-03-05 Thread Bob Bruno - K2KI

Hey Todd,

Yes, it's been a long time. Was wondering how you were doing.

I have been a member of this group for quite some time but was in
"lurker" mode.

I just got my hands on a DX-100 that I plan to put on the air. At
present, I have no working AM gear.
I also got hold of a Hallicrafters SX-42 with matching spkr. It's not
pretty but does play. Been looking for other BA's to help keep my coffee
& shack warm. In collecting mode Know of anything offhand? :-)

Glad the 75A-2 helped some ppl out. I almost hated giving it up but
C'est la vie.

Re: [AMRadio] Re: AMRadio Digest, Vol 50, Issue 10

2008-03-05 Thread Jim Wilhite
What happened is that Brian moved all the people on the AM Radio list
over to the new list.

Immediately people started complaining about being subscribed
automatically.

So he unsubscribed everyone to let them do it themselves.

So to join the list you will have to do so yourself

Like Ricky Nelson sang in Garden Party, "you can't please everyone, so
you have to please yourself".

So...if we got this digest, we can assume to be subscribed, even
though we didn't subscribe to begin with , or unsubscribe, even
though we got both the subscribe and unsubscribe notifications?

[AMRadio] AM Swap List

2008-03-05 Thread Jim Wilhite
Ok guys, here is the deal. When someone posted to AM Radio and did not
follow the rules, both Brian and I received several messages that
pointed out the omission. If someone made an honest mistake, then the
same thing happened. I have taken the time to call people on the phone
to discuss the problem rather than banning them immediately, even though
the rules say banning will be the result of improper behavior.

Reading all the posts is a chore, one that I enjoy but I am retired,
Brian is not, so, it is much more trouble for him. In trying to provide
a service MOST of the group wanted, he created the Swap List. Now we
recognize not everyone would want to trade or sell/buy, but Brian nor I
can go through each name individually and choose the option you want.

We can, however, mass subscribe or unsubscribe easily. That is why
everyone was added, and now why everyone has been deleted. It is not
worth the time to read a message from people who complain because, not
only does it not make our day, but is un-necessary. If the message
truly violates the rules that is fine and I like the help. But
remember, not everyone shares your views and don't expect us to chastise
someone unless the rules are blatantly and repeatedly violated. Some
have been banned recently because of this behavior. This is and has
been a nice list and we welcome constructive suggestions and criticism.
Because of you it has not been necessary to intervene much, I hope it
stays that way.

So it was little to ask of you to unsubscribe if you didn't want to be
there. Now it is little to ask that if you want on the list to
subscribe. Try to be understanding a helpful.

In an attempt to solve some problems with the For Sale and Trading on

AMSwap.

It is set up where if you press the reply button, it will reply ONLY
to the sender of the posting, not back to the list.

The members of the current AMRadio list will not have to do anything
to join, as I will automatically apply your membership to this new
list...

[AMRadio] New AM Swap list

2008-03-05 Thread A.R.S. - WA5AM
In an attempt to solve some problems with the For Sale and Trading on
the main AM Discussion list, we now have a new "sister" list called
AMSwap.

It is set up where if you press the reply button, it will reply ONLY
to the sender of the posting, not back to the list.

The members of the current AMRadio list will not have to do anything
to join, as I will automatically apply your membership to this new
list. When I do this, an email will be sent to you with instructions
on particulars such as how to un-subscribe (if you don't want to see
FS items), set digest mode, etc. Since there will likely not be too
many posts compared to the main list, digest mode might not be needed.

Be sure to put [EMAIL PROTECTED] into your address book, and use
it only to send trading type posts. Please do not use that list for
general AM Discussion either.

The AMSwap list is only for posting those items that are directly
related to AM equipment, however, towers, tuners, and other items are
of course accepted. If you have a list of AM type items, and you want
to include a modern rig or two, that will be fine, however the primary
purpose of this new list is for vintage AM type equipment.

QTH.NET has graciously agreed to offer us this new list after my
request. With the recent postings about how to donate money, etc., I
will post that info later on how to send them anything you would like,
and I do encourage the members to do so.

Please wait until you get your membership confirmation for the new
AMSwap list before posting to the new list.

Hope this helps...

2008-03-05 Thread D. Chester
So did he have the power cable from the polepig to the amp silver plated
as

well???
'A fool and his money etc''

73 Max M0GHQ

Of course. And he had the power company install a special audio grade pole
pig, wound with silver plated, oxygen-free copper wire, and filled with
cyrogenically treated audio grade transformer oil. He is presently
negotiating to have audio grade silver alloy wire run from his pole back to
the substation that connects to the power grid. But still, the 115 kv line
to the generating plant is made of ordinary "low-end" aluminium wire, and
the substation uses ordinary transformers. :-)
