Re: [AMRadio] Neurophone
Is that the right link? If you're referring to the Neurophone developed by Pat Flanagan (http://www.neurophone.com/home.htm) interestingly (to me at least), I knew the guy pretty well in Jr. High School. He was instrumental in some ways in getting me interested in Ham radio, although I have no idea if he's still active. He also does this sort of thing -- http://www.phisciences.com/, and was once considered a guru of pyramid power having written at least one (undoubtedly highly researched and peer reviewed) book on the subject. That whole debunked business plus the crystals, etc. sort of sheds some light :-) Grant/NQ5T On Jan 17, 2010, at 7:55 PM, B W Duerr wrote: I really don't think I'd trust anything from a website where they even spell the name of the device wrong. Flashing copper can be purchased at any sheet metal shop or roofing company without the asphalt backing and a lot cheaper. Re: [AMRadio] copper sheet
Lowe's carries the copper flashing in rolls without any backing. It is sold for flashing. Look in the area with roofing and gutter materials. [AMRadio] MF-LF propogation
I just finished watching 2 hours of 24 and when it was over decided to go to the shack to see if I could find anyone on 160 meters or 75. I was disappointed because I could not hear any AM signals at all so I decided to tune around in the LF part of the band. In past postings Don/K4KYV mentioned AM broadcast stations that are located in the near East or Africa down there so I wanted to see if I could hear anything from them. Last year I could only hear their carrier when I turned the BFO on and tuned around from ~160 to 200 Kc. Tonight was a surprise as I could hear 3 stations very clearly here in the mid-continent area of the US. Don mentioned hearing them clearly in KY last year, but I never could recover audio from them. Tonight was different as their signals were strong and not fading in the short term. So I though I would tune the Aircraft NDB band just to see what I could hear. The heterodynes were so strong on most of the frequencies that I could not identify any of the CW IDs. On a few of the frequencies I could hear individual stations, but not many. Boy do I wish we had a good allocation down there right now. We (I) may never see conditions like this again in the rest of my lifetime. I was using an Inverted L for 160 meters and my HRO 60 with the H and J coils. There is really something to a lack of sunspots if you are willing to experiment a bit. Many of you have SS rigs that will tune down there so, if you are interested, tune down there and see what is alive between 125 and 512 KC. 73 Jim/W5JO Enjoying listening because I don't hear anyone on the air. __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Post: AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to amradio-requ...@mailman.qth.net with the word unsubscribe in the message body. Re: [AMRadio] MF-LF propogation
Jim is right on about the VLF stuff if you are bored or just want to do something different. I'm listening to VLF right now and am hearing quite a few NDB's out to 1000 miles where I have clear frequencies ( a problem between 200 and 400 kHz). The cndx are very good tonight. I'm in Phoenix and the farthest beacon I have heard in the past 30 minutes is YQK in Kenora, Ontario on 326 kHz. That 's about 2000 miles from Phoenix which is my QTH. I'm using my FT-1000MP and my 160/80/40 meter 72 ft vertical. Use this web page to ID the NDB's http://www.dxinfocentre.com/ndb.htm It's all slow speed CW. Have fun. 73, Dave N7RK -- *** Dave N7RK Boatanchors Home Page: http://members.cox.net/n7rk Phoenix, Arizona *DXCC Honor Roll**WAZ#22 - 75 Meter SSB* ex-XE2/N7RK, N7RK/ZB2, VK2ERK, ZM0AJN, WB6NRK, WN6IWX Boatanchor and Antique Radio Collector __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Post: AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to amradio-requ...@mailman.qth.net with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
