You are correct about what is going on up north they have been working for their own interests now the members for years.. just a bunch of monkeys lead by a weirdo. what i have not been able to figure out is WHY we as member keep putting these fools back in ? maybe the AM CW guys should have a block of their own to run . might be hard to get more votes since the shack on a belt guys out number us now. Yes theARRL did not get the great shot in the arm they wanted Oh it happened for a while when all those who would not put the hard work and time into getting their ticket . we able to get it the New EZ way. but they got bored So the ARRL in their wisdom sic pushed to lower the test again. got a few more to come in who just wanted to guess at the test from the test QA that was passed out. they too dropped out bored. Why ? I really think they if you are given something for nothing you do not value it much. I value my ticket as one of the highest peices of paper i have ! [AMRadio] ARRL Bandwidth Regulation -- I'm Worried!
my state director sent out a email on this subject it was a little vague in some depts as to the reasons for the BW issue. He had asked about interference to cw and rtty ops from digi stations that the guys were complaining about. he said he had never had any problems and wanted to know just who had. we his latest email was a couple of days ago on the subject and guess what . yesterday i was on 14.010 and some lid starts a pactor connect right on top of the HZ1 I was trying to work. wiped out that for a lot of the guys.. then last night i was trying to work another dx stations on 14.002.5 and here come N3YAH connecting to N9TSM right on a freq that is in use by many stations.. N3YAH connects and sends a email message about chain saws and Charter One Band needs you to update your records. What the hell is this lids up too ? passing junk mail off the Internet. here is where the winlink and pactor 1,11,and 111 problems lie. these guys are not passing health and welfare but Internet junk mail most of the time. i see a need for these modes but why do we need to go by band with ? hell they have 14.060 to 14.080 now for all these modes. lets face it the big 3 have a lobby in D.C. and they want to sell radios. the agreement has worked up until now for the most part. if they want to play with new modes most will go the way of amtor and packet anyway. give them a 100kcs of 10 mts. told my S.D. to drop N3YAH a line and ask him WHY he had to drop to the bottom of the cw dx band to pass his junk mail ? Don: as for the traps they should be ok i used one for 20 yrs. i did have to add insulation to the outside about every 4 or 5 yrs. i used red insulation dope or you can use black liquid tape to seal the cracks. as for the coax if it is the non foam type and not been outside it should be ok you can short the ends and use a noise bridge to check for loss . old arrl handbooks tell how, if it is rated at a KW AM then you have a very good trap new ones are not rated for AM or RTTY. only problem i see is the rg58 taking a KW AM.. SSB maybe 800 watts . 73 Tony
