[AMRadio] Has anyone built a linear using a 6c21 or 750TH?
Has anyone built a linear using a 6C21 or 750TH, I found one of these, sadly heater o/c in a hamfest recently and thought it might make a great project if I could find a bit more about it and a working example, so if you have a 6C21 or a 750TH in your junk box then I would be interested in making it into a project amp. It would go well with my BC-610, ART-13 and other boatanchor radios. 73 Max M0GHQ __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.

Max, I will e-mail an article from CQ in the 1950's about the use of 6C21's in an amp.I think it was called the 100-Watt Contest Special. Just last weekend I acquired a beautifully-constructed grounded-grid amplifier from the estate of John Rollins, W1FPZ, using (2), count them, two, 6C21s. I did not, however, get the plate supply with it - that went to someone else, as I have no room for it. It's a single-band amp for 15M, but would easily convert to other bands. It's constructed breadboard-style on a wooden base covered with an aluminum groundplane. John was a real craftsman and engineer, and even homebrewed the hypersil-core filament iron. Someday I'll fire it up, but right now it's sitting on the top of a 6' rack just sitting pretty and providing mood lighting for the shack! 73, -Larry/NE1S __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.

Larry, That sounds absolutely georgeous, please send me a pic sometime if you have a digi camera. they are really nice looking tubes arn't they., I would imagine the plate supply is around 5kv or thereabouts, the 250TH in my BC-610 is a pretty nice looking beast as well, gives a lovely rounded AM signal that everyone comments on. 73 Max M0GHQ Yes! Re: [AMRadio] Has anyone built a linear using a 6c21 or 750TH?
Mark, Fantastic, I'll have to find a working one and get the soldering iron out, that 6m amp looks like just the ticket now the sunspots are coming... I am surprised with the size of the electrodes that it copes with that high frequency, I suppose though if it was used as a pulse tube then it is OK. it would take quite a lot to melt that anode. The $100 KW final looks fun to make too, now I know what to do with the redundant BC-610 tank coils hihi. 73 Max M0GHQ Max, try this : http://www.lakeerieba.com/6C21/6C21.htm de ka4jvy Mark __ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/amradio@mailman.qth.net/ List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
