[amsat-bb] News from W6FOG
I just finished a short QSO with Neil W6FOG on VO-52. He did confirm that when he attempted to start his sailing trip he ran into very bad weather and after 16 hours of high seas and rain, he had to call the Coast Guard to come get him and tow him in as he was suffering from hypothermia. The tow broke 3 times on the way in as conditions were quite bad. At any rate he is hoping to start out again this coming weekend on Saturday or Sunday. Please keep in mind that I am only relating conversations I have with Neil on the air.I have no other contact with him and am in the dark about things just as much as everyone else sometimes. Please post comments on the -bb whenever you contact Neil on his trip.everyone is interested in the latest from him as he makes his way from San Francisco (CM87) through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean. 73 David K6CDW ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. [amsat-bb] Android/g-phone satellite tracking application
I've seen satellite tracking software that works for portable operations such as the old Palm Pilots and also on smartphones that have Windows Mobile or Palm OS. The new Droid phone on the android platform looks really interesting and I was wondering if anyone knew if 1) The aforementioned apps would work on this OS 2) Are there any satellite tracking apps specifically made to run on the Android? [amsat-bb] Re: Android/g-phone satellite tracking application
Tim, The Andorid phones have a SDK available and the OS is Open, unlike the iPhone. So I think that once released, Tomorrow, we should see a bunch of apps. I am anxious to get mine, its been ordered. (I also work at a shop that does smartphone programming.) Palm is a very different programming environment from Windows Mobile, and both are quite different from Android, although both WM and Android are Java based, they won't run each other's programs. 2) Are there any satellite tracking apps specifically made to run on the Android? Not yet. None that I'm aware of, anyway. It's on my list, but someone else will probably get to it before I do. That's what usually happens. ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. [amsat-bb] HRD 4.0 not properly switching frequencies for sat tracking
I'm only posting here because the HRD forums don't seem to have much activity. Please see the my posts (before the thread was hijacked) at the following link http://forums.ham-radio.ch/showthread.php?t=17841 Basically, the VFO is not switching to the TX freq at all or it's waiting until after I've finished keying 90% of the time. Thanks, Tim KI6VBY Ps- sorry for taking up so much bandwidth with questions lately, trying to get back into the sats and have a few problems ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org.
