On 2011-08-16 09:10, Douglas Quagliana wrote: If you received any BPSK1000 telemetry, then ARISSatTLM should have created a .CSV file in the ARISSatTLM\Telemetry folder on your desktop. The file should be named with the date (for example, 2001-8-5.CSV). We would really like to get a copy of the telemetry you received. Email the .CSV file(s) to telemetry (at) arissattlm.org If you receive BPSK1000 but do *not* use the ARISSatTLM program, how do you then proceed? Are there any publizised specification for the CSV file format? 73, Bent/OZ6BL ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? Hi Eric On 2011-03-13 00:28, Eric Christensen wrote: Anyone using PacsatTools for Linux? I just installed the software but can't quite figure out what's going on with it. Thanks. We use PacsatTools at OZ7SAT. It works best if you also use PB/PG for Linux (http://fern.dk/?PB%2FPG) We mostly use pbdir and occasionally pfhadd and phs but rarely the rest. The README file should tell the full story. Best 73 de Bent/OZ6BL ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? [amsat-bb] Re: HO68 schedule needs looking at
The latest schedule (23 - 30 May) contains nothing but FM passes. Last weeks schedule contained but 2 (two) packet passes - of which only one was usable here in OZ. I take it that the omission of packet passes this week is deliberate and that the FM mode again can be used for packet as well. If that is not the case I respectfully submit that more packet passes be scheduled. One a day over Europe would be fine. Best 73 de Bent/OZ6BL Hostmaster for amsat.dk ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Unfortunately Pi-day can not be celebrated in Europe as we have no month 14 over here. ;-) My question is: in amateur satellite design/planning how many significant digits are used to calculate the value of pi? Is there a significant difference in results between (4 decimal poinits) and (3 decimal points). In professional space missions, such as NASA, what is the practice with regards to use of Pi ? Are there any published standards? Using Excel, is there any way to generate a large range of pi ? I have often used the expression pi = 4 * arctan(1) to get Pi with full machine accuracy in a program. 73, Bent ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. [amsat-bb] Sounds of old satellites
Recently I found some old audio cassettes on which I had recorded some of the sounds I heard from the satellites back in the eighties. Rather than discarding the tapes I decided to digitize them and make them available to interested persons. I have got sound bites from: - RS-5 - RS-7 - Oscar 9 - Oscar 10 - Oscar 11 I also found recordings from my attempts to contact Owen Garriot, W5LFL, during his pioneering trip on STS-9 in Nov/Dec 1983. I made three attempts but only one of them has a few minutes with the voice of W5LFL, so that is the only one on my site. The audio clips are here: http://www.fern.dk/?Satellite_Sounds If anybody has - or can detect - further information I will be more than happy to add it to the data presented on my web site. BTW is there a commonly accepted repository for things like what I have made? If so I'll be glad to place them in that repository as well. Best 73 de Bent/OZ6BL ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. [amsat-bb] Odd frames from HO-68?
Hi I have several times observed some oddly addressed frames from HO-68 as witnessed by this frame dump from this morning (conf http://www.amsat.dk/oz7sat_kiss/xw1/KISS-Sun_Jan_03_06_08_00_UTC_2010.html): = RR BJ1SA-12 - UA9UIZ* N(R)=0 P/F:1 UI BJ1SA-12 - BBSTAT* P/F:0 PID: F0 Open BJ1SA-12:1 RR BJ1SA-12 - UA9UIZ* N(R)=0 P/F:1 DISC BJ1SA-12 - UA9UIZ* P/F:1 DM UA9UIZ* - BJ1SA-12 P/F:1 == UI BJ1SA-12 - BBSTAT* P/F:0 PID: F0 Open BJ1SA-12:0 UI BJ1SA-12 - BBSTAT* P/F:0 PID: F0 Open BJ1SA-12:0 ... == The odd one is the one I have marked. It appears to sent from UA9UIZ which means that I should have received it directly from UA9UIZ. This is very, very unlikely as UA9UIZ is located some 4500 km from here according to http://da.aprs.fi/?call=UA9UIZ. Have any of you observed something similar? We had a 2 deg elevation and the satellite was about midway between OZ7SAT and UA9UAZ over the Kola peninsula. I suspect that the operator had the PL tone ON so his packets were being repeated through the FM repeater. I think that would make the packet look like it came directly to your station, without a path. That sounds like a very plausible explanation. I understand that packet operators should turn their PL tone OFF in order to prevent this. Agree. Congratulations to Nader for uploading three messages successfully! I am interested in his Wisp/MSPE TNC settings. For example, what the Retries time was set to, TxDelay, etc. For what it is worth, here are the settings we use. You have to be rather aggressive when connecting to a satellite, so the T1 timer is set very low: Window size: 1 T1: 0.5 sec Retry count 10 Maximum packet length. 128 The latter is probably not necessary with HO-68, but it was with GO-32.
