[amsat-bb] Re: Dayton
I took my wife's and my QSL card from November QSO's, and the Colonel signed those. When I told him I was "Tom from Grand Rapids..:, he interrupted me and said, "You were the one that brought up Roger Chaffee. Thank you for that". Whew. He remembers a lot of stuff. BTW, my buddies watched and video taped me with the Colonel. Said I was like a 8 year kid. I was... Fun time... de tom K8TB On 5/21/2011 9:27 PM, Mike1234 wrote: > ... [amsat-bb] Re: Question about radios
Ed, I have not done it yet, but the parts are in the shack: I will be installing two buffer IF amps on the IC-910H. These will feed my SDR-IQ (main and sub rx) . This was my original thought. However, I also ordered a FM filter for my K3, and I will simply have the K3 monitor the IF tap of the main receiver of the IC-910H. One annoyance to me is the +/- 1 kHz RIT of the IC-910H. Not good enough when chasing some non computer assisted folks on the birds (ssb/cw). With the K3, I then would have essentially an unlimited RIT just from the tuning control. There, now that I explained it, I had better warm up the iron right? tom K8TB On 5/3/2011 11:50 AM, Edward R. Dave, I have a pair and in my case they are powered right up the coax to the rig by the IC-910H. They are very good, albeit expensive preamps, and they make a huge difference for my setup, as I have a 150 foot run of rg-8 to the antennas. tom K8TB On 1/30/2011 4:31 PM, Dave wrote: > Hi group- Is anyone using the SSBUSA-2000 and SSBUSA-7000 pre-amps? [amsat-bb] ARISSat es ARRL VUCC
Just trying to be ahead of the curve here. Is the ARRL gone to place ARISSAT on the list of sats for VUCC (if not, hint hint please please) And if so, what do we call it for the 5 character spacing that is required? (ARSAT?) http://www.remoterig.com/en/ I have a set running a 6 meter remote SSB remote base. Works very well. Dual rs-232 ports. You could use the front panel or HRD or TRX to control the TS-2000. What we need is an Ethernet interface to USB that uses POE. This has got to be out there already. Is anyone using a split rig setup with SATPC32, using a K3 with the transverters only in the receive mode, and another rig, like the IC-910H in transmit? I have the 910H, and I just like the receiver of the K3, and I'm thinking about going that route. Tom K8TB ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. [amsat-bb] Rig debate time...
So I have an Icom IC-821 that I am using for the birds, SSB and FM. I don't know what to say, but that rig isn't quite there. So I am trying to decide between a TS-2000 and an IC-910H. I've had a 2000 in the past, and it is a pretty good rig. But I've heard that the 910H is "better", more or less. I have mast mounted SSB preamps to equalize everything out. Anyone on the list own both an IC-910H and a TS-2000, and do you have any thoughts on the use of them for sat use? (I don't really need the low band part of the TS-2000, I have a K3 there). tom bosscher K8TB ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? [amsat-bb] Re: Please help - ideas?
Mike, I have a spare G-5400B controller if you want to try that. To make sure, the El works OK when wired into the AZ pins? If it still acts up, I would look at a bad motor cap, which is in the rotor. However, you can parallel a cap in the shack across pins E4 and E5. You could go to Graingers and get a motor starting/running cap, like a 2MDR1 for less than $ 10.00 I'm not sure on the difference between the 5400 and 5500, so maybe someone on this forum can tell us if this controller would work. (It has the DB-9 serial cable). Let me know. And don't forget May 18th, for the DF Hunt! tom bosscher k8tb On 5/5/2010 7:36 PM, Michae J.
