Correct. Analog treates the quote as closing the referrer string.

Sort of preprocessing the log file, I can I therefore assume that
there is no solution?

Both, though I prefer to link if possible, except for short scripts.

Yes, I would be happy to include your program. E-mail me privately?

Ok I will put that in the next version. You indicated you had a page
for helper apps. Is this a page of links or a page files or both?

Well, single quotes will work, but they will appear as single quotes in the
output. %22 will get converted to a double quote by analog, so appear as the
right thing.

Is there a particular reason you prefer %22. I am currently replacing
them with a single quote and analog seems to accept it fine. These
computers can be so stubborn sometimes. ;)

Thanx for forwarding my message to Mike by the way.

I'm convinced that the servers should make the translation (preferably
escaping the double quote as %22). However, as much as I keep wishing it,
they still don't do it. :)

I have a program that replaces the extra quotes in the referer field
with single quotes. It runs fine in dos, I don't know how it will
perform in other operating systems. It does have problem I have to
fix in that some people are having problems with extra quotes in
the agent field as well. This will cause those lines to be "fixed"
incorrectly. I will be working on a fix for that this week.

I would need to see some sample lines to see if it would require
any changes in the code to fit your situation.

All that I would ask in return is a reasonable donation be made out
to me in exchange for the work. Providing the program is of use to
you of course.

[analog-help] Quotation marks in referer field

1999-03-02 Thread Kevin Woodward

Hi,

How do you deal with quotation marks in the referer field?? Analog is,
for obvious reasons, junking any lines which do have quotation marks
in the referer's query string.

Any ideas??

Cheers,

Kevin Woodward
